Interesting shot, this is a really good looking car...

The photo above shows the Corvette running in the Proto Type class, probably against some very exotic machines. I believe GM was hoping to run in the "Production" class but GM pulled the plug on racing and enough cars were never built to be classed as a "Production" vehicle.

Looking at that makes me think that Blue might’ve been the unofficial Corvette Racing colours from the get go. Nice looking colour on that body shape.

It's hard to see, but painters had to chisel hundreds of layers of paint off the tops of their work boots on a regular.
The floor beneath the assembly line (in the paint shop) is a grate, with giant vacuums sucking fumes and overspray down, hence the quick buildup of paint on boots.

PPE was always optional. Including steel toe boots.
Eye protection while welding was mandatory.

I'm going to guess that paint booth is not the main line.
Why?
Because previously painted units are rolling in.
All the background workers, farther back are fine sanding.
The last 2, before the painters, are using tack off cloth....final prep before paint.
Theses are touch ups.
The normal route sees the car get fully painted, from primer, in 4, 5, or 6 stages.
