Some Corvettes simply are not beautiful...this picture from Sebring in 1962 shows the test mule and yes that is Zora with the helmet ready to take this one out on the track....

This beauty has a great drag racing competition history....worlds smallest air scoop? Maybe that was the secret.

There has always been a competitor for Corvettes...the Cobra for certain and I believe the car in the far lane is a Cheetah...drag racing and road racing, all played a significant role

Wowsers Murray. That Cobra has a ton of front suspension travel.... Good thing these are straight line only cars... tough enough to know where our noses are on the street let alone with the front end up and a monster blower in our faces... They are eye grabbers though... Scientific testing indicates that an exposed blower increases the driver's testosterone level by 38.3% and the bystanders by 17.6%.... Damn... mine is up just looking at the pictures... :droolz1:

The styling cues that determined the looks of many of the GM cars in the mid 50's the Corvette included...

I started to work in GM Oshawa in the fall of 1965 as a tool and die apprentice at $2.21 an hour. I could have started at Quaker Oats for $1.10 an hour as a labourer. I spent 41 years at GM. Nothing was ever cheap. More than a few of us stayed broke buying $3500 - $4500 dollar new musclecars in the last half of the 1960s. Would go back and do it all over again.

Running away from the pack in Northern California or Nevada...anybody know?

Anybody know what year that Corvette on the right is? Yes there is a Corvette there...

Odd that it appears to be a sports car event yet the track looks surprisingly like a dirt oval
