I knew working at a British car dealership for a few years in the 70s would come in handy someday. But who knew it would Be to answer a question in a Corvette Forum....lol.

The mg midget had a different front end with the headlights built in to the front of the fenders. The sprite had the headlights protruding from hood area as in the picture. Also known as a “bug eyed “ sprite.

... and later Austin Healey Sprites went to the same body shell and fenders as the MG Midget.
Just as another little tidbit... those Bug Eye Sprites had those distinctive headlights because A.H. originally intended the Sprite to have pop up headlights. To keep the price down, they made them as you see them here.
