Under the current IMSA rules the lights would light up to indicate position on the track within the class. On older racers they may have been indicator lights for the pits to let them know they were coming in. Could be completely wrong, I am more of expert at basketball. :Biggrin:

I'll just add to those good thoughts Black 03. They could also possibly be for the pit crew and maybe even the lap recorders/counters to identify #28 at night.
