Dads 65 Buick Wildcat wouldn't last past the next service station on 50 cents.... so we mostly drove the VW bug. Wasn't the same as the Buick but it always got you where you had to go.

Agree.... Maybe GM had this pic on their wall and one day said..... "Hey... Wait a second.... why don't we do this"...A familiar looking brake cooling duct just in front of the rear wheel. Back To The Future maybe??
