Battery DEAD DEAD DEAD

Just back from 2 weeks’ holidays, went to take the car for groceries… and it was stone dead. Nothing.

Before leaving I covered it up in the garage, and made the conscious decision not to plug in the battery tender. Figured two weeks would be fine (I normally plug in the tender if it sits more than a couple of days).

Well… add in my LED steering wheel still plugged into the OBDII (with heat option), the smartTOP module, the car’s own parasitic draw, and the fact the battery was pushing ~4 years old… and I was doomed. On top of that, I’ve been at car shows nearly every weekend, constantly cycling the roof up and down showing people how slick it is - probably not doing the battery any favors.

Tried throwing the 5-amp Battery Tender on it, but it just errored out and told me the battery was toast.

Instead of wasting time, I grabbed a replacement: H6 AGM, 760 CCA, 4-year replacement warranty battery. Sticker was 08/25, so fresh off the line - exactly how you want them. (Cue the AGM vs flooded flaming, but I’ll take the better tech.)

Moral of the story: batteries don’t last forever. Plug them in, take care of them, and don’t over-abuse them like I did (roof up/down 20x a day 😅).

Do you start your car with your key FOB a lot? I've been told that's a killer.

Are you operating your roof with the car off? I've been told that's a killer...
I do very occasionally start it … but I would’nt say enough to contribute to the death of my AC Delco

Roof, yeah quite a bit for sure at shows

That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. It should be no different than pushing the button inside the car.

It sounds to me like cycling the mods4cars 20 times ran the battery down which was not charged up before you left.
I find a fully charged battery will last about 3 weeks with the regular draw not on the tender but anything beyond 2
weeks your pushing it. I rarely remote start the car and think there would be more drain on the fobs batteries doing
that compared to the cars battery just starting the car like Murray said.

There seems to be a few AGM battery options for our C8.
Interstate $350-550
Odyssey $508
Optima Yellow $350 usd Orange lithium with bluetooth $850usd.
Antigravity $1250

There maybe others?

Raptor Racing in Peel has the Antigravity and Odyssey fyi.
Everstart Platinum AGM - $289 + tax ($20 off for core charge swap)

~ 760 CCA. 120 Minutes Reserve Capacity

Rated extremely well in all my reading, and what I purchased. Cost doesn’t always mean quality …

Did you notice anything difference like holding charge with the AGM?

For $289, it is a good idea. 🤔
Got a part number?
