AUTO or Manual?

That was the Big decision! Wait for the 2015 and get the DSG 8 speed Auto or get the 7 speed manual now.
Couldn't wait and didn't want to risk big price hike due to demand and currency exchange, so 7 speed it was!

It is uncertain whether the 8 speed will even be available in the 2015 car (other than the Z06) and it will NOT be a DSG (assuming you mean a dual clutch transmission similar to VW's DSG). It will be a regular 8 speed torque converter auto when it comes... similar to the Z06.
Seems the poll here is a little one sided! And thats awesome!

Two auto sports cars.... very very shameful. 
However, like you said, you have a reason for the auto in the ZL1.
Autos are fine for people who:
a-Like driving an auto
b-want to be consistent at the strip
c-don't want to be bothered stiring a manual.
