Anyone trading there 2021 in a 2022 this year?

I’m considering doing this as it looks like my car is going back to the shop for the third time in 1500km , probably for a new transmission.
A couple I know who are. But remember the 1 year 12000 KM rule. There are tax implications if you trade it. Ask Cam

Sorry to hear about your problems. At least you're covered by warranty but if the car spends more time at the dealer getting work done than on the road, a warranty is little consolation. As Murray says, you should consider the "12 month + 12,000 km rule" but a possible solution to this if your problems continue and you seriously want to wash your hands of the car, would be to contact your dealer or perhaps get hold of the regional GM rep, to see if GM would waive that rule given your circumstances. No automotive manufacturer is immune to a "lemon" and if that's your C8, you'd hope that GM will be understanding and prepared to help you into a new C8. Good luck resolving this.

Hey I'm in the same boat with mine going into the shop 5 times and the transmission was replaced on the 3rd visit.
The other thing to consider is sales tax. If you trade in you are likely saving around #13,000 in sales tax. At least in Ontario.

No sales tax in Alberta, just 5% gst

Yup I'm ordering a 22 Amplify Orange 2LT HTC so my 21 1LT HTC will be going...
So what’s making you go from 1LT to a 2LT? I guess I’m asking, what feature/option do you feel you are missing out on with a 1LT?

Hey John,

The stereo, heated and cooled seats, front parking camera and the heads up display. Thought I could live without but seeing as I put a ton of seat time in my car it matters to me.

Plus I'm a fan of the brighter orange.

Picked up in Feb this year and already at 12k...

Cam went from a 2LT to a 1LT so I think he noticed the missing extras more than someone you just bought a 1LT from the hop. My budget was tight for this car and was happy with a 1LT to have money for wheels and tires, aftermarket exhaust and track day fun

I have had (and still do) the HUD in a few of my vehicles, frankly, I don't care one way or the other for it (some do it better than others, my daily driver Mazda is a bit annoying, however, my spouse's BMW is nicely done and she likes it).... , the cooled seats, neat, but not needed. The main reason I'm doing it is for the PDR camera (and front parking) and power folding mirrors. I wish I didn't have to upgrade to the 2LT for those items, but, I guess I'm getting a slightly nicer interior (if going two tone, which I am) and few other nice goodies. I have a feeling a LOT of first time Corvette buyers do the "upgrade qualification" in their minds when ordering their cars..... most of us are only wanting to do this once, so, do it right the first time. I don't think anyone will regret getting "extra" equipment on their car when sitting behind the wheel. LOL.

For me:
  • Power folding mirrors a must!
  • HUD a must!
  • PDR a must (for safety primarily). I wish Chevy put a rear facing recording device.
  • Upgraded stereo a must (i wish it had even more power!)
I think the 2LT also has blind spot monitoring. Which has saved me twice now.

In any event enjoy your cars. It truly is a really good car!

Can one of you please fill me in on “12 month + 12,000 km rule” ?

GM stipulates that you can't sell your C8 within that time frame unless you want to get blacklisted (if the car gets exported).

You can get lucky and sell it to a fellow Canadian who may or may not export it.

The only way around this is by trading it into a GM dealership as they can get approval from GM depending on the scenario.

Loads of folks have become blacklisted without knowing. And this blacklisting prevents you from buying any GM vehicle.

Damn that would break my heart. Preventing me from buying any GM vehicle? Wonder which one I don't want?
The Spark for sure...or even the Equinox...lol.

But in all seriousness, if you want another C8 or Z06...be careful.
