I might get the used 2016 C7 next week completely mid January and I checked several places for storage, I was in for a sticker shock, unheated places were between 275$ to 369$ a month. I also bet the car wouldn't fit in a 10'x15' or 10'x20' storage space. Just across from me a new U-haul center rents a large heated warehouse space for 105$ a month taxes included but they are full. That would of been perfect but you have to reserve 48 hour in advance to go see it! I only have a few other places to check in the Ottawa region and if not the car will become part of the snowbank.

if that happens should I get some tarps or a special exterior cover or just like any regular car just leave it uncovered?

I know a lot of people in Quebec use car shelters in the winter for their own vehicles.

45% off right now.

It'll keep the weather off.

I called a specialized car storage place, it's all full at 169$/month. She said when they refer to another place customers called saying that one too is full so...

I had suggested the tempo in the other thread and I'll look into it at CT.

Indoor heated storage around Calgary runs around $1200/year. Tougher to find short term or month to month. I also see lots of garages for rent in residential areas for a few hundred per month.

I should also add that at many airports some of the flight school or charter operators will store a car in the hangar. They are always looking for a little extra revenue.

Yikes that's rich, we can find heated winter spots for as cheap as $240 to as much as $550 for the whole winter, drop off in October pick up in April or May.
Or if you're lucky enough (such as me) free heated storage at a buddies place. Nice to have good friends.............
Got a new update on my 2020, order status at 3000 TPW April 6th, so perfect as the car should arrive early May.

So I've been looking at car shelters, the ones on sale and those are frightening. Many people complaining they collapsed even if they removed the snow. One guy said all it took was a night of heavy snow and it collapsed. Catch 22, If buy a good one I won't need it next winter if I can reserve storage or I if buy an inexpensive one taking the risk of it collapsing.

There's only 1 used car shelter in my area for 150$, I might go take a look.

Then I've doing a little research and exterior car covers causes the paint in several spots to become dull because the cover flaps in the wind.

$369.00 a month? Heck I'll kick my Harley and Vette out of my climate controlled garages and rent it to you. LOL. Just kidding. I'll kick my wife's car out of her side. LMAO.

I used to rent a storage unit for mine. Now i just put it in my unheated garage and cover it. My winter car stays outside with a remote start.
Yours will easily fit a 10x20 unit. That's what I rented.
Heat is definitely not needed.
Spend the money for a rental unit.
Compared to the cost of the car it's cheap peace of mind.
I wouldn't mess around with a temporary shelter.

I called U-haul again and spoke to the woman in charge, she's going to call back sunday or monday to schedule an appointment. This is strange, a few days ago from a clerk was saying whatever whatever and now it's the opposite. Price now is 115$ taxes included or so.

Got a hold of another place and what he offers are non heated sea can containers for 169$/month and say some store their pickup trucks in there. Cross my fingers for the u-haul place!

I'd go for the C Can.
Totally secure with a good lock.
No worries about others looking at, touching and maybe scratching it or worse in a U Haul warehouse.
It doesn't need to be heated.
Just take out battery, store in your house and re-install when you take it home in the spring.

When I spoke to the uhaul clerk the other day she told me only one person can go into the warehouse escorted by a u-haul attendant. It has to be reserved 48 hours in advance. This makes me feel safe if only one person can enter and escorted.

My buddy bought a C can years ago. Stores his Mercedes and motorcycles in it over the winter. Haven't heard if you can just rent one. Also those big storage units are able to hold a car. You know the kind on that show called storage wars? I went to one of those auctions a few years ago when people don't come back for their stuff and haven't paid rent and there was a car in one of them. Didn't buy it for one reason there was no title for it or a ket. But some guy bought it for parts. Was like a $16,000.00 car and went for like $1500.00

This site (quoted above) has the two GM accessory car covers that are made for the C7 (there are aftermarket options). What I like is the softness of the Indoor version. Our Summer Cabin does not have a garage so I also have the Outside version that I put on top of the interior cover (two layers) as the inside of the exterior cover is not very snugly. So a $700 purchase has me covered. I would recommend this to try at first as you may still want to cover the car ... even if in one of those shelters.
The soft layer on the inside of the indoor cover is nice, but not a good plan for long term outdoor storage. It (soft material) holds moisture for a much longer time than the outdoor cover, which is not 100% waterproof, but it can breathe better, doesn't wick moisture/water etc.
If scuffing during wind is a concern (wouldn't be with the correct cover) then simply park it outside - no cover. Snow is just water, but colder. It'll get dirty, but that washes off....just ask the new car dealers.

Sometimes the best thing to do is nothing at all.

Other than a 48 foot sea can that has an interior width of 8' 2", both a 20 foot and 40 foot sea can are 7' 8" interior width. Your C7 is 6' 2" wide. even if you crowd one side tight, you will only have max 1' 6" (or likely less) to open your door and get out. If your butt is as Phat as you mentioned before, this may be problematic. I have heard of others that use to park in a sea can that would take the targa off and climb out through the roof. Also sounds problematic to me... If I remember correctly, @Riley P use to park his Vette in a sea can.He might be able to shed some knowledge if it was indeed him...

I brought my 911 Porsche home in a closed in car trailer and had to climb out of the window to get out of the car. No way I could open the door without doing damage. I imagine the C can is about the same.
