Anyone Else Fascinated By Old Locomotives?

Randy, the Illinois Central now owned by CN Rail did run passenger trains to Miami with track rights on the Atlantic Coast Line. IC had extensive passenger service, their City of New Orleans even had its own song written and performed by Steve Goodman and may famous by Arlo Guthrie.

Hard to believe NO one pointed out that Miami isn't in Illinois before they painted that
Hard to believe that they got 2 pictures of that train in the exact same place so many years apart...amazing. Hardly looks like the grass even grew any.

I knew they ran to New Orleans and the song et al and that direction I did not know they went to Florida.
They didn't intend to go any further than New Orleans but when they took a closer look at those 25 sacks of mail, they realized half of them were postmarked for Miami....

You boys just hold on to those 5 ton wheels and we'll lower that 20 ton engine right down onto the axles....watch yer fingers now!
At least the guys on the sides could back away, seems to me the guys in the trench are just doomed if anything goes wrong.

Guess they figured hard hats were likely a waste of time...
