Anyone Else Fascinated By Old Locomotives?

This picture stumps me. Cannot figure how they would get a loaded coal car to the top. There appears to be something between the rails as the track goes up but not sure just what. Somebody can figure this out.

Randy you may be correct, rollers and a winch would make sense. You would not want to be around if the cable snapped!!
 
Could be Randy, the graphic certainly looks correct.
 
Alco comes out to play in the snow. These are fairly rare engines. A fellow by the name of Doyle McCormack found a couple in Mexico and is restoring one of the in Nickel Plate livery. And we thought restoring Corvettes was tough!
