You said it, like Nonna’s around the world used to do , to their couch & chairs.

It’s meant to keep crumbs off & out, easy clean up for any spills, keep smells at bay and for those looking to keep the underside viewing area in pristine condition.

Then if you’re fussy you get to clean the cover instead of the entire engine. Something else we didn’t know we needed until we were told. :Banghead:

Pay for the item and then sell it to someone who takes the cover off and gets to enjoy it the way it was supposed to be. Of course you should also have antimacassers on all of your furniture….:rolleyes: And your Vette . lol .
 
I am never in a rush to modify my cars. I buy exactly what I want. Then after a few years, I might buy performance parts, to increase hp but this car you cannot because you lose your warranty. :Arghh: So making changes to the look is not a priority. I will wait for this clear cover and engine cover to be available in Canada and built in North America. I do not trust China made parts. So Jack , unless I find it in Canada and made in N.A. I will not mention it again.;)

I hit a local car get together last evening (100+ cars of all sorts and vintages) and this was a big hit with both Vette and non Vette enthusiasts…. Constant crowd asking questions and taking pictures.

The attention is super cool, I rather like the conversations it sparks with car and non car people alike.

Who doesn’t love talking about their car, right?

Mods I have done: ACS rock & mud guards, 20 mm spacers from Paragon Performance, exhaust system from Paragon, jacking pucks, ceramic coating entire car & In a few weeks I am having a Stage II Procharger S.C. installed.
After seeing what you have done I may do the same? Never heard of AMT, but, will check them out. Thanks for sharing.
 
I went down the same path with red mist.
I didn't find the shipping and insurance charges too heavy, $158.85 US and the custom clearance charge from UPS was $38 Cnd. The issue I had with AMT was that they shipped out the engine covers and the caps in a timely manner but the clear cover was backordered. After much back and forth with them it finally arrived, months later, When it did arrive the red mist stripe was chipped. I notified AMT of the damage and simply asked them to send me some touch up paint and I would repair it myself and live with the results. I didn't think it was worth it to send the cover back and wait for a replacement, which may never come, because the last time I checked AMT's site they don't even advertise the clear cover on it anymore. I never did receive any paint from them so I bought the red mist touch up paint from the dealer and it was an excellent match, if the touch up paint would have been in a spray can you would never see the repair, because it was with a brush, it is slightly noticeable, but really so minor it is not an issue.

I also bought the coolant tank cover in the same colour. This cover is attached with 2 sided tape. I think the overall look for the entire engine bay is quite nice.

In all fairness to AMT, they seem to be a decent company with quality products but they could not properly cope with the demand for their clear covers and the supply they were able to obtain. I believe they buy the covers and apply the coloured stripe on the covers themselves.

I would not hesitate in dealing with AMT again, because in my opinion, anyone can have issues or problems, it is what you do to rectify them that is important to me.

Unless their supply issues have been resolved with their supplier, anyone interested in dressing up their HTC engine bay may want to consider AMT for the engine covers and RapidRev for the clear covers. I don't believe you get the painted edge from RapidRev, though, I may be mistaken. Which once you pass 70 seems to happen more often.

Unrelated, like many I park away from other cars when I can. Here is a photo of a mini trend at the golf course when I did just that last week.
