Almost had our car stolen?

The car will actually run until you turn it off. After that, it won't start if it can't see the FOB.

Next week I'm getting a kill switch installed in the car... It will disable the start/stop button.
Morning. Would you be so kind as to link all info regarding this kill switch? I would be interested in this also. I have the pouch, works great. And also have TAG. But this kill switch is just what the doctor ordered in my opinion. No having to disconnect battery. Just power to the starter. :-}

Why bother? PArk in the garage, set the parking brake, arm and lock the car automatically when the door closes. it's virtually impossible to steal without alarms going off. They'd have to break the window climb in attach a OBD tool to bypass the key and then silence the alarm, disable OnStar etc. Any thief will move on to another car and not bother with it.
Alarms are pretty much worthless unless you're close enough to hear it yourself. People just ignore them. Magazines have done tests where they actively appear to be stealing a car or motorcycle and people just walk on by without doing anything. Maybe Canadians will get more involved, but I wouldn't count on it.

I have a Soler throttle controller installed. It has a setting you can access though your smartphone that lets you disable the throttle pedal. The car will start and idle, but pushing down on the gas pedal does nothing. Hard to drive a car only at idle.

The point is it's a deterrent. The thief will likely move on to a car that's in the driveway etc.
Throttle disablers won't stop a tow truck.
