Good morning Gentlemen,

I could just have PM'ed Manny but maybe someone else knows.

As winter storage is coming up I have to purge the methanol out of the windshield washer fluid tank. Now of course the more I use the less I have to purge, right?!

So I had the dash light go "green" a few times yesterday to achieve this goal and I thought it would be good to continue with this on my way home from my run this morning.

Oddly, for the first time I believe, I saw the light go "red" first before it turned "green". Now normally red lights are bad but I have no recollection of this ever happening before. Or perhaps I'm more often making sure the car is going straight when the boost builds up rather than waiting for my green "going-going-gone" light to come on!

So what is with the red light?????

Anyone have any ideas before Manny gives us the gist??

Cheers,

Garry

Hi Garry, from what Manny told me last year: the green light shows that the system is armed and functioning properly , while the red light shows that the system is actually pumping meth to the intake.
You might want to confirm that with the man.

Hi Garry,

The light should always go red before turning green. The red light indicates that the system is flowing and is operating at low voltage (based on low boost). When it turns green, it has achieved a line pressure of 50 psi or higher and is now operating at full voltage. The pump is voltage regulated based upon boost levels. If it came on at full pressure immediately, you would flow more meth than the motor would be able to utilize and risk hydro locking the engine.

Way cool guys! Thanks for sharing the wisdom!! I had never noticed it turniung red before that is why I thought I'd ask. It is a lot easier to see at night as well, maybe that is why I was missing it.

I had recalled that I remembered seeing it go from clear (off) to green at which point I thought it was all systems are go but the red was a new observation for me yesterday........

Maybe I need to work it some more and take more "observations", you know, in the name of science and all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers,

Garry
