Tariffs on the C8 . This is interesting but the question is how long will it last as the tariff war heats up ? Should one be ordering now .......

Why Canadian‑dealer C8s aren’t “tariff‑free”
All C8 Corvettes are assembled in Bowling Green, Kentucky. They do not qualify as Canadian‑ or Mexican‑origin under CUSMA, so on paper they’re subject to Canada’s 25% surtax on U.S. vehicles that has been in place since April 2025 and remains unchanged as of September 2026.
Canada’s latest retaliatory list (effective Sept 8, 2026) explicitly keeps the motor‑vehicle surtax at 25% and does not raise it; it mainly targets steel/aluminum and other sectors.
How GM Canada actually sells them
Canada has a tariff‑remission framework for automakers that lets them import a set volume of U.S.-assembled vehicles duty‑free (or at a reduced effective rate) in exchange for maintaining Canadian production and meeting other conditions.
GM Canada uses this remission/orderly‑marketing arrangement for U.S.-built models like the Corvette, so the 25% levy is not passed through as a separate line item on the Canadian MSRP.
The practical upshot for you at a Canadian dealer: the tariff is “baked into” the supply arrangement and pricing, not something you pay on top of the advertised price.
That’s different from you personally importing a U.S. C8, where you’d directly face the 25% surtax on the value for duty with no automatic remission.
