Maybe, maybe not. There are plenty of examples out there of rulers who hold on to power for as long as they can. You have only to look at who DJT admires to see where he gets his inspiration from.
If he doesn't keep hold of the torch it wouldn't surprise me if he tried to keep it in the family.

Well I don’t think that is likely to happen. Say what you want about our neighbours and their politics but there are too many others just waiting in the wings for the syphilis to finish him off , lol. And who would vote for Don junior ? Now there is a piece of work… wouldn’t hire that scary looking creature as a babysitter any time soon. Thankfully they have fairly comprehensive checks and balances that would prevent anything really radical happening short of a civil war which the military would squash like a cucaracha .

It is discerning when comes to politics. Even some of the most respected peoples in our inner orbit had fallen into this left and right war.
However, I know enough to give them their space and hopefully one day they will relialized that they had been minupulated by anger. Often picking one thing to base their whole view on.
And we should always not judge things and others from a view point of a perfect 100% -24/7 because none of us are . It comes down to picking one canidate with less flaw instead of one with a perfect record. This may not exist or they are smart enough not to be one? lol.. And we know who the Trumps are in general.

I agree that there are checks and balances in place. Trouble is, DJT ignores them. He has stacked the judiciary just enough to get a free pass on just about anything. After all.. he can't be prosecuted for anything done while president. Bypassing the congress by declaring an emergency and issuing executive orders.
Don't know if and when he would be brought to heel as there are hardly any republicans who have an opinion or brain of their own.
If he doesn't like the outcome of the 2026 midterms he could in theory just declare them invalid due to voter manipulation or election fraud (probably his own). Can't be prosecuted for a presidential act. He did mention to one group in the last run up that they wouldn't need to vote again.
