Those were perhaps the golden days of NASCAR...

Another pic for Graham. NASCAR Modifieds at Stafford Springs Conn for the 2019 Icebreaker. People wonder why passing is so hard with these cars. Just look at all the rubber, they are about 12 feet wide

Graham, some people have said there was about the same number of people at Stafford for the mods as Bristol for NASCAR. Bristol at one time was simply impossible to get tickets for. Not anymore.

Bristol is on my "bucket list" and was impossible unless I pooped a gold brick for a ticket.
I watched Bristol this past weekend and the stands were near empty of "die-hard fans" in
comparison to the days when there were "die-hard racers" operating those stock cars.
I just wish there was something "nascar" for going to Bristol now ...
I'm just not a "Busch" nor "Shrub" Fan

Correct.. BRISTOL used to be a sold-out race..where the seat was handed down thru generations.
They did get up to 140,000 in there maybe 12-15 years ago, and there was much discussion about putting a roof on it...The LAST GREAT COLISEUM! Bruton Smith the Showman!
It was right about the time that they resurfaced the track and NASCAR was starting to fail a bit that things started the downward turn.
I remember getting offered a ticket in the ‘90s by a fellow at work... I couldn’t make it.,,!
There was once a funny commercial on TV where in a divorce a wife got the house, cars, vacation home, kids and everything.. then the husband was awarded the seats for BRISTOL!! She was pissed!

I do not know how to ‘fix’ NASCAR or if it is just a economic thing.
Football has dropped as well.... Baseball still seems to carry it’s ‘mystique’ from the past and still packs them in.

Spence.. that young Busch fellow is not my fan choice but boy that fella can drive a car!
I actually root for him to come thru the field. Even the competitors know that when that car is in your mirror, or in front of you for the win, he will make you perform!
Much like that #3 friend of ours was when he was on the track.

Take care gents.

Oh the day of my first NASCAR spectator seat and I felt like I owned it. I made sure to go where it wouldn’t be postponed by rain. Wouldn’t ya know it ... it rained before the end and was red flagged and ended. Of all places in the dry desert of Arizona. On top of that the wrong damn black car won. I was so mad. Today however, I relate back to it as one of the great races I attended. There is even a couple of current day races when comments were made about that race I WAS FIRST AT.
... I’m not sure if this would happen today for a future day of “I remember when”.

🤔... anyone know right away who that other damn black car was? (The days known as “you need a black car to win”) surely to be easy for some with the hint 🤣

Graham, I must admit and perhaps childish on my part but I cannot stand the sight of either Shrub Brother. If I think the 18 is going to win I just stop watching. He is just so damn whiny. Those two are one of the reasons I don't watch anymore. When I would rather watch Canadian or American Pickers you know the thrill is gone.

There was a NASCAR short track event a week or so ago, two competitors got into some fisticuffs. NASCAR lowered the boom on them banning them from competition until next year. The track management said "hold on I don't think so". Probably the last NASCAR sanctioned race at that track. It was a pavement late model show.

Meanwhile the France boy runs into a stop sign when he is drunk after a race in NH (?). Yet they lower the boom on somebody for loose lug nuts. Just stop.

Dump the lucky dog dump the segments. Go back to real racing, heat races to qualify invert the field. Let them go who cares if the wheels are only held on with one lug nut. Only thing I would continue to enforce is pit road speed. Saw a pit guy get killed at Michigan, should not happen to folks who cannot watch the action when they work.

I hear you Murray. I always have something in back-up on my PVR if the Nascar Race is appearing to be "re-run" ...
sometimes it's American Pickers and sometimes First 48 ... and as just about anything would work, Thank God
a new season of "Life on a Rocking Boat" (Deadliest Catch) is coming up (well, ... I think as it's been on-and-off the past few seasons).

I hear ya Murray...
I guess a lot of the issue is NASCAR not treating everyone the same. Agreed.
I thought the segment thing did promote mid-race Racing... but i’m Tired of it now..
Not many yellow flags these days so the segment thing sometimes promotes the restarts.
The restarted are quite exciting to watch,
Again..I don't have the Answers..
To tell you both the truth I haven’t Seen the TEXAS or Bristol races yet! They are in the PVR
The weather has been too nice to sit and watch the races.!
Years past that would not have happened...
My pool table is adjacent to my theatre room so if things are not exciting I can play pool and watch the big screen ‘TIL action gets better on the track.
