Looking at a 70 c3 with a rebuilt 454 with no options and a 72 350 loaded. One has 89k km and one has 75k km. Questions

  • I think these milage numbers are complete fiction on 50 yr old automobiles, but does the mileage matter at all? If the frame is good, it can all be replaced. True right?

  • The 70 is a stripper, no ac/ no power windows, no power steering and no power brakes, with a 454 and 4 speed, but the engine was rebuilt 800km ago and numbers match. Lots of new parts. Asking 35k

  • The 72 is is loaded but no matching numbers but a 350 with 4 speed. Asking 45k.
What is fair market for these vehicles now in the spring of 2025? Will the 72 be fun to drive?

Barret Jackson is a poor place to judge market price unless it's a one of a kind ground up resto with no miles on it that rick Hendricks or Jay Leno wants. Go to auto trader or kijiji and get an idea of prices in the real world.

These televised auction sites are why you can't find a decent project car for less than stupid . Too many people think their rusty clunker is worth big bucks because it is the same make and model .

Those prices seem high for those years.
Those years would be in a range from $12K - 35K
12K might be a driver needing work and a questionable frame.
The frame is the most important before you purchase or start working on one of these models.
$35K would have to be a very nice condition vehicle with a partial or full rebuild. I would also expect most matching numbers.
The value could only be higher if documented work, numbers matching, proper paperwork, .

Before you buy any car of this vintage it is important to take the car to a knowledgable shop with Corvette experience. Someone who knows where to look and what to look for. It will be the best $100+ you ever spent to have an impartial inspector check the car. Don’t be fooled by shiny bits!
