Hey I have a 09 ZR1 and I have a problem getting into 2nd gear , it grinds going into it . Every other gear is fine . Do I have a clutch issue or did I break something in tranny ? Any recommendations for a shop to take it to in Durham region ?

A yellow ZR1 in my area had issues too getting into second.

He has extended warranty but not sure if he has looked into it.

Does it happen only around 6300-6400 rpm??? That seems to be the area it happens for him...... if you shift at 5900 it is fine for him.

I would say tranny syncro issues..... it is a stupid big job if you need to pull the tranny.

good luck with it.

Few more details will help us internet mechanics :) Does this happen at a particular rpm range? Downshifting or upshifting or both?

Thanks for the replies it first happened yesterday coming out of 1st at 6400 rpm big grinding noise trying for second , now it happens down shifting or up shifting only into 2nd gear . Cheers

Thanks so much Brian it has 16000 km . I just checked that fluid it is black in colour and the level is just below the add mark. I will try to drain it tomorrow after work and replace the fluid . Keep my fingers crossed , I will let you know if it works . Thanks again Kevin

cover up the fender with a soft towel..... it stains paint.

I have heard half way between add and full is the best level to have.

hope it helps.....

Well I tried but to no avail ? I added two 250 ml bottles probably about 20 flushes and took it out it will go into second if I'm stopped but from first to second it just won't go lots of grinding noise . First to third is fine as well as all other gears. ???

Ok thx David I may call them tomorrow . From what I'm hearing I have synchro issues in the gear box . I will get his opinion tomorrow and go from there .
Cheers Kevin

It sure look like internal problem Have you check at the dealer whit your serial number to see if there is any powertrain garanty left? If you are not the original owner, you may not know the date where the car was delivered. Not much to loose. Good luck

good idea...... worth a check.

It is a huge job to take tranny out.... whole rear suspension has to come out

Warranty expired last year unfortunately . Last owner never had any issues there is no record of it ever being in for warranty work just regular service .

I hope something can be fix from the outside but if you have to take the transmission down, have a remote bleeder install to simplify clutch fluid flush and bleed. there is also a modification for the slave cylindre that might help help peoples who ride there car harder. Try this link, if it doesn't work I will try to send it to you by PM.
