Perhaps the rebranding by removing the E [ electric ] is to not offend the petrol heads , lol , who may still buy it though . Seems in North America at least and especially with most government rebates/taxpayer handouts reduced or gone that most who were going to buy already have . And the mandates for all electric by 2035 are also gone . Eventually they will become more desirable if they get solid state batteries figured out to increase range and cold weather operation . But I have a feeling its still going to be a while before there is widespread adoption . Then again a bit of battery boost is OK I suppose and it doses provide all wheel drive for a short time but for me personally I prefer ICE and rear wheel drive in a sports car . But of course to each their own .

Personally, I like the name 'E-Ray' much better than 'GSX'.
To me, it set it apart as the way of the future, whereas the new branding seems to be drawing from history.
I do understand, however, that a lot of the Corvette 'crowd' wants to stay as far away as possible from anything remotely denoting 'electric'.
Watch how fast they jump all over this one.
My seemingly ancient '24 E-Ray is a great car and suits our driving beautifully - I'm sure the 'new' GSX will be as well.
It wouldn't surprise me if a few of the staunch Z06 guys decide to finally ditch their ear protection and take a look.

All madness … I’m just going to wait for C9 and buy one out of the gate …. Hoping for a big external cosmetic change.

All these incremental changes for C8 don’t excite me personally. They are all still C8’s that you can drive @ 10% of their potential. (That’s me … others will feel differently and that is fine). No tracks on the far east coast.

495, 525, 670, 721, 1050, 1250 HP … for street …. Doesn’t really matter ? AWD I agree is a benefit(ish) …

Mine looks great (imho), rivals any C8 for sound .. so what would I be paying for exactly ?

They filed a patent for active aero about 3 years ago, but making it affordable when most don't see the track and it adds a lot of expense is yet to be seen.

I'm in agreement with DynamicCaps here in that I have gone far enough 'up' the C8 line without first requiring a 'fresh' body style.
That said, it's a bit tough giving credence to "all madness" regarding "incremental changes" from a guy that specializes in aesthetic changes.
Each to their own, but I've never completely understood the whole 'mods' philosophy (I did buy the caps, however, and they work marvellously).

So, Scott (aka Mr. Corvette), when do your meticulous inside sources say we can expect the opportunity of acquiring a C9?
More importantly (for myself), how long thereafter until the myriad of deviants start being introduced?
I can only assume that GM will maintain their seductive marketing games moving forward.
Surely there will be a 'special' 75th anniversary edition Corvette for 2028, but I expect that will still be a C8, agreed?
Following that, however, my uneducated guess is that the base C9 Stingray will surface as a 2029 model year.
But what of the Z06, the E-Ray (GSX), or the ZR1?
How does your historical insightfulness demonstrate this as playing out in the past?
I'd like the assurance of knowing that those 'wink-and-handshake' agreements I've made with the impeccably honest dealerships will come to fruition.
 
Lately my sources have been under scrutiny about how the manual was going to reappear in the Grand Sport, when | have been saying on here or via DM's to members that yes there is going to be a Grand Sport for 2027 but there will be No Manual transmission until C9. What I hadn't heard about until recently was the renaming of your car to the X due to the public "thinking" your car due to the name is full electric. Since 2024 when I first heard about the GS's return, I have said that 2025 saw a delay in the new interior so it got pushed to 2026. Then 2027 is the GS launch, 2028 will be followed by the 75th anniversary car where they have been toying with a gold colour, but the 75th colour is supposed by tradition Diamond White but they already used that colour for the 70th in 2023!
Last time there were gold Corvette's produced in 1998 all 15 of them didn't match as they all looked different in the sun and they quickly cancelled gold.
As of May 2015 when they spent $439 million on the new paint plant, I am expecting a gold option to return for the 75th but nobody is speaking about that yet! That takes us to 2029 where we will see a Collectors edition/commemorative edition farewell to the C8 with a short production year like 2018 and during 2029 we will see the C9 appear as a 2030 model. I published on here and in our club's newsletter what to expect in the C9 in January 2025.

I think the C9 will look great keeping the similar foot print but with some subtle cosmetic changes.

Yes, your right, Suttle changes. Think of the C9 like the C6 was to the C5. The C5 platform when it was launched introduced more changes in a single model, than any previous model in the history of Corvette since 1953. I could write half a page about the changes on that car first explained to me by the engineering team and the plant workers the day I was in the plant helping to build my 1997 (which also happened to be the day they were building the first 1998 prototype convertibles) they were hoping I wouldn't notice...big mistake!!
Fast forward to C8, same thing again, a new biggest change model in the history of Corvette in 67 years. In the C5 the only part carried over was the door handle out of an Oldsmobile Aurora, in the C8 some lifters related to cylinder deactivation and a few latches and sensors, everything else new.
Well due to cost, they ain't doing that again.
