Hey all,
I've had several requests for info about the Xpel wrap I had done on my Z06, So I figured I'd make a public post in case anyone else is interested. I had the entire car wrapped with the exception of the rear spoiler, the vents, and the exposed carbon fibre on the roof (although the white painted parts on the sides are wrapped). That even includes the front splitter and side skirts. All in all I'm happy with it. There are very few seams. However, when you get a bit of dust/dirt on it you can see them if you look for them. But this is mainly because I have a white car. I think they would be less noticeable on any other color. The pic by the rear vent is the worst seam I could find after it got a bit dirty. Before that it was barely noticeable.

Price was $4300 plus tax from the dealership. I got a quote from Legare Graphics and Trim in Mississauga for $3800 plus tax. However, living 1400 kms away, the logistics of coming in, taking possession, then going home and returning a week later to pick it up made going with them a bit more difficult. Although the work on their website looks good.

I have been living with the xpel for 6 weeks now and would do it again in a heartbeat. My car is 99.5% wrapped and has stood up to the spring roads (2000km) without a ding. The best part is when it comes time to wash the car, you do not get that feeling of resistance when you wipe it down. And no swirls. The installers use proskin on the car which is like a wax for the xpel. The water runs off like rain-x in the rain. As a side benefit I killed a few cones on the autocross track last weekend and the only orange mark wiped off with my thumb.

Did much background on paint protection and it sure seems a close flip between Xpel Ultimate and Scotchguard 3M Pro. While I think 3m wins out on surface marring and self healing, Xpel has the reputation, warranty and time in the market for me I think. Prive is not a determinate whatsoever. I am considering only full coverage, including headlights. The best price I could find was right from my dealer at $3200 for 3M Pro fully covered but then there becomes a concern of warranty in Upper Quebec and any problems i find on arrival for delivery.

Looking to Southern Ontario, the local experts have done a terrible job of marketing visability on the internet...but this is what I have found that seems reputable:

$3800 - http://protexppf.com/en/milton

The owner operator is Richard Di Salvia who is a great guy once you get a hold of him and they also run the business through http://www.pelti.com/en/about/pelti-window-films-is-now-in-milton-ontario/

$4200 - http://www.touchoftint.com/paint-protection.html

They will do either Xpel or 3m premium coverings for that price.

There was another company called PG Professional Tint our of Mississauga (http://www.pgprofessionaltint.com) that did coverage with Suntek PPF but I found it very hard communicating with the company as the person didn't seem to understand what I meant by full coverage. Even when I wrote 'the entire painted surface' he returned with a low cost front bumper quote...no thank you sir!

My gut tells me that Protex and Richard in Milton may be my final choice.

So do tell about your autocross experience. The little guy in the Black C6 Grand Sport can hustle the car around the track can't he. He said your car went like hell and drove like it was on rails.

Ok I got beat by a C6 for street tire fast time. It was my first time out with the car, I only had 3 hours sleep, and left Edmonton at 5:30 in the morning to make it to Stony Nakoda. There is a ton of speed left in the car I just have to get my brain up to what the car can do. I am slowly turning the nannies off the car and it does help. I figure next time out is Sport 2 and Race modes. Even in the rain in Kelowna last weekend there was still too much intervention to get the car to turn in crisply.

And a big thanks to the Kelowna Corvette Club for a great CCCC event!

Hey AllFlash... check out Advanced Automotive Films in Mississauga (Marco - 877-295-9466 or [email protected]). I was in there last week and he was doing a full wrap on a C7 Z06 convertible and what I saw looked amazing. He will provide a quote broken down by panel and will do either Xpel or 3M... for my convertible it was ~$2800... full front (bumper, hood, lights, splitter), front fenders, mirrors, door sills/rockers/skirts, A pillars and door cups. His recommendation is 3M ProSeries because of the higher shine. He was a good guy to talk to and really knows his stuff.
