Just curious what level of storage insurance most are comfortable with.

What rates you are seeing out there too. RBC (Aviva) here in Alberta suggesting keep PL/PD plus fire and theft on my 2020 C8.

I keep it in my own heated garage.
Thoughts? Too much insurance or about right?

Honestly I was thinking fire n theft is enough…are there other companies that simply specialize in storage insurance?

Thanks

This might be insurance company dependant, but when I was storing my 98 Camaro the Ins Co. said that if the car was insured fully for only 6 months then the 6 month full rate would be higher because it changed the type of driving etc. (Actuaries?) Anyway, it was hardly worth the bother changing it, so I just left it fully insured. So make sure you check with your insurer before making changes.
1 other point to consider if applicable. I also thought I might actually need the car if the winter beater broke. It did indeed happen several times over the years so I could just use it without fear.

Not sure why you want liability insurance if the car is just stored inside your garage? Comprehensive would cover you, methinks.

I've had Vette's for almost 40 years...as soon as the salt hits the roads and I garage it, I take the road coverage off leaving comprehensive for fire & theft. Knocks it down from $1,200/year to like $100/year.

Agree with the majority. Fire and theft only. Been doing this since day one with both Vettes and never have they snuck out of the garage and got into a winter accident.
When the guy sneaks into your garage, steals your car and gets into an accident, then leaves the scene on foot. Who is responsible? YOU!
Don't argue with me or I'll steal your car, get into an accident and leave the scene on foot JUST SO I CAN BE RIGHT! :p

Under that scenario, you're covered by theft insurance and the owner of a stolen vehicle isn't responsible for the injury caused to others or their property. On the other hand, using the example of Rruuff Day and assuming you have a Corvette that can think for itself (a Corvette "transformer/robot"??) and "sneak out of your garage" then MAYBE you'd need PL/PD...(lol).

No, you missed the point. With no driver, the car was not stolen. The owner must have been driving and is lying about it being stolen. It's an easy excuse to avoid being charged with several offenses.
You obviously don't watch enough cop shows (Or I watch too many lol)

LAst year I drove year round but am travelling more this year so the car just went into storage. ICBC (British Columbia) yearly coverage is $1600 and yearly storage is $420 and pro-rated at $35 per month
