hey guys,
Just wondering where you guys get your tires from? I need new rear tires when I pull the car out this summer. 275 or 285/40/18 would work.

Tirerack doesn't really seem that cheap after you do shipping and customs.

thanks,
Paul

Paul,
run flats or not ? Firestone firehawk wide oval RF are pretty good. Paid
~$350 each,all in, last year for fronts. [245/40 18] Rear, ~$400.

Many like Michelin, which cost a good bit more. Others will probably help your list !!

Discount tire Direct.
I have bought 3 sets including my new TSW Wheels & Hankook tires from them.
I always ship to CBI in Niagara falls Ny. Just pay the taxes at the border.
I just picked another set up last Saturday for a fellow forum member.
Don't know where you would ship to from Winnipeg.
Whats the closest border town?:canada:

Paul,
if you want non run flats, try Nitto Invo. Seem pretty popular. on my
conv. via Manny's help contacted guy in California. He sent 275/35-18 and
305/30-19. These fit on the original C6 rims. In 2010 these cost ~ $1200.[all in]
sent via Fed Ex, delivered to Manny, no extras, customs or tax worries.Got them
mounted/balanced in Cambridge for $35/rim.
hope this helps,
Tony

Wow, I just checked Discount tire's prices on the Nitto's, Tony and it's very favourable. For my sizes of 275/35/18 and 325/30/19 the price is $230 and $347 respectively compared to Michelin run flats at about double the price!
The Nittos seem rated very highly too and have the same speed rating as the OEM's.
There is also a promotion going on until the end of March giving a $60 Visa card, (that'll cover install) - as well as free shipping (to states).

Not bad at all.

I think for the difference I can get by without runflats.

Im thinking non run flats or run flats. I use to have HRE wheels installed on my car. 19/20 combo non run flats. I took them off and put c5 z06 rims on. They z06 rims came with run flats and i didnt mind them.
I have heard good things about nittos. I think they are bit over priced tho.

i was looking on ebay and you can pick up 285/40R18 96W Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar Tires for 260 bucks for two tires. i think thas pretty fair. Not sure how much shipping to canada would be but if i ship them to Pembina, North Dakota, shipping is about 55. Then id have to go pick them up and work out the taxes. Im about 1.5 from Emerson border crossing.

im thinking by the time i get them home, they will be about 370-390 depending on how much the parcel place charges me for having them shipped to their place

Is there a canadian site thats fairly competative?

1010tires.com

They are located in BC, I have used them in the past and have been happy with their service .

Folks,
my price of $1200 included the FedEx charge of $70/tyre. [tire !!]
So Nitto's cost ~$920 for the four.
Just wanted everyone to know the proper costs.
I'm assuming the FedEx charge paid for all their costs.

Tony,welland.

How does the price Tony paid compare to Disc. Tire D., Mark?

.....and border fees, are they much?

C.

The tires I picked up last weekend at CBI from Discount Tire Direct. were:
Nitto Invo's. Fronts 265/ 35/ 18 = $221.00 Each x 2= 442.00
Rears 305/ 30/ 19 = $346.00 Each x 2= 692.00
Tire total =1134.00
- Instant Rebate = $124.00
Total including mounting, & tax = $1010.00
These tires were mounted on new TSW Rims.
All I paid at the border was the 13% HST. No other fees.
Discount tire direct ships for free anywhere in the lower 48 states.:canada:

1010tires always seems competitive I'm just lucky cause my local tire guys match the price and include the install!! They don't charge a premium for shipping either.

I ran the wide ovals on my C5z for over 20k and they still had a lot of life in them. The only draw back was that they were easily the limiting factor at the track where I doubt they would perform like the Michelins but for that price,,, I still wouldn't buy the Michelins.

I put Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's on fall of 2010 that I had shipped up from 'onlinetires.com'. Excellent tire, I would buy them again. Their price, landed, & installed ended up being $1200. That's half what the local guys wanted. '1010tires.com' seems bang on for pricing too, maybe I'll use them next time since they're Canadian.

These guys are good, but I just bought tires from tiretrends.com--they're in Vancouver as well. My 275-55R20s came in 75 bucks cheaper too.

For some reason tires for my sports car seam cheaper to order from the states, and eat the crazy shipping costs. You guys living near the border live a charmed life!

The truck tires were a different story!:canada:

Cheers.

Well, nothing to update. Wheels were sent where the chrome was flawed with a burnt finish on one of the wheels. All the wheels had areas where the chrome was unfinished in some grooves and the surface had a wave to it. Pictures were taken, it was accepted by the manufacture that this was a flaw with the chroming process and we were told to send the wheels back. Then once the wheels were sent back, they accepted the one wheel with the burnt chrome and then changed their minds on the others and applied restocking fees. I still have to talk with them why they changed their minds. Going through a whole bunch of wedding details so this is sitting for a bit.

We did find another company that was awesome to deal with KX Wheels. However, if you are close enough to Manny, I would suggest talking with him as he has access to a whole bunch. The reason why I have not talked to Manny is this is the fiances car and she wants to forge her own path on this. Once I look for wheels, I am going to be looking for Manny.
