We live in a fairly small population area. In Haliburton there is a Chevrolet dealer and in Minden a Ford and Subaru outlet.

So I went past the Chev dealer yesterday and the place is filled with Corvettes. All they had in the showroom was Corvettes along with a number of cars sitting outside including a wine coloured Grand Sport that was very pretty (I was thinking of asking CAA to go and pick it up for me today!). Z06's and Stingrays. I will see if I can get some pictures of the showroom, pretty cool to see.

So how come all of a sudden a small dealer has a huge inventory of cars in a small market area?

As expected demand is dropping and supply restrictions seem to be lifting or lifted. Good news for new buyers as that means discounts finally. Of course that's never an issue if a caa tow is involved.

Same situation here in Vancouver and the surrounding areas: lots of inventory in stock. I have spoke to some salesmen and there are now many new corvette owners opting for the new C7 than ever before. I have spoken to a few new owners while getting mine serviced and they are very happy with their C7. I just got off the phone with a friend in Kelowna: he was at the super market and there was a new red C7 parked in the handy cap parking area - a older women got in with her bag of groceries and drove off.

I'm thinking... although it's not that nice to think about.... that the huge price increase has also hurt sales. I'm guessing that GM has accounted for the exchange more than they did during the '14 and '15 model years. I priced my '15 out online as a '17, and it comes to $10K more. And I'm noticing that almost all of the showroom vehicles hover around or exceed $100K. Maybe not such a perceived value anymore? Although those of us that have one, know that isn't true. It's an amazing value for what you get, and what It can do!

A poster on another forum said that Corvettes were now susceptible to Canadian Chevrolet employee pricing. I have no idea if that's true or not, but it sounded like quite the discount (nearly 10%). If anyone has any idea how one goes trying to qualify for this discount, please let me know.

I seen a sign outside Lakewood Chev in Edmonton, 10% off 2016 Corvettes.

I didn't go buy one ;)

...as to not directly assist in promoting a business ... google westlock chev and you might still find a "specimen" that was on my radar of 5 similar vettes this past summer when I bought mine in August. You will find $20k off and I am not sure if their 0% for 3 years still applies ... but this is a great hook to bite for sure. It's also proof that a lot of "oil $$$" are not floating around up here at all ... this car should not last past Christmas at the price they are posting and it's been at this price for over a month. For those looking to join in the fun and drop $75k .... Cheers!

... follow-up ...and 3 months later the $94k gem finally sells for $75k ...

It's still best time to buy an available 2016 gem with the economy now in reset for recovery

... maybe we will have a new very happy forum member join in soon ... awesome deal on a brand new loaded 3LT ... happy for them with envy too!

That is indeed a good looking car. As odd as it may sound that person got a better deal on that car than I did on my 03 Z or whatever it is. GM was really hosing people back then and the dollar was better than it is now.

... true ... adding GM pricing insult with what some may say as from the Dealer ... is that I had reached out with an offer at a higher price with the dealer on that same car last July. They turned me down being optimistic that they would get more ... so I am very happy for this Buyer! Dealer took a gamble that I would return ... no hard feelings ... all water under the bridge for me! I struck another deal on another Stingray a few miles away two weeks later.

Yes this is true. I am a GM empolyee and if I build a Corvette on the GM employee website the discount is about $7000 on a 2LT. The higher the price the bigger the discount. Unfortunately you have to be a GM employee to qualify for the discount.

Very kind of you to share this 'Laticsfan' (Antony). This is something that I have speculated (7-9+%) for many years when the "employee pricing" words get written in advertisements. I few of my purchase offer acceptances have come back with responses like "way better than I could do myself". It never really mattered if it was true or not as it mattered more to me at getting a vehicle for the amount that I wanted to pay. I imagine that the "employee pricing" incentive is a portion from GM and then any discounted amount above that is what comes from a blend of dealer overhead and markup(profit). Regardless there are great deals to make with patience and timing for sure.
