Waterfall hits rear window when raising or lowering convertible top

When raising and lowering the top on my C6 convertible, the waterfall strikes the lower edge of the rear window, It is just a click with little interference but I am concerned it will mark the paint on the leading edge of the waterfall or scuff the bottom of the rear window frame. There is some slack in the window which allows it to contact the front face of the waterfall. My arms are not long enough to press the control button and hold the window forward at the same time. Does anyone have a fix to hold the lower edge of the rear window forward about 1 centimetre so it clears the waterfall when raising or lowering the top?

There are a number of YouTube videos about this issue.
Good Luck!

Thanks DL for the extremely helpful video. Great help but my 2007 top is different to the 2013 in the video. For the life of me I cannot find the straps that pull the window forward, so I am building a little arm extender holder to keep the window forward when cycling the top. Waiting for PL adhesive to cure before trying out. I searched for videos of earlier C6's but could not find. Maybe someone else can assist here? By the way it is not the waterfall but the tonneau that hits - my bad!

As an aside I noticed that the owner of the yellow car in the video did not return the lock handle to the lock position when lowering the top. I have bee warned that the handle may interfere with the underside of the tonneau when it closes, but I have not checked this..

this one also shows tightening the strap. My 2010 only fouls when back of car is at low end of a grade. Finding the strap was a challenge for sure. I looked into tightening the strap as per the videos but decided to wait until condition gets worse. My luck I would drop a screw and then end up with bigger problems.

Nice second video with much clearer shots. This screen shot shot shows where the strap fastens, but my car does not have this aluminum piece. I have found my strap, I think, but it has no screw and is impossible to access without taking the top fabric apart. Hopefully my "grabber" works. I'll know tomorrow. Thanx again for your help .....Peter

Derek, no need for picture of "grabber" (I have it below) even though it worked. Here is very simple, no cost or no labour solution, I discovered when trying out my rear window "grabber". Just a little coordination and being aware of possible pinch point, but just reach back with your right hand while operating the top control with your left hand finger. When the second roof bow is vertical just reach back and get hold of the very lower edge of the window frame with the tips of your fingers and hold the window forward while tonneau moves past. There is lots of clearance, just don't put your whole hand under the window. Note this procedure is only for those comfortable with doing this sort of operation, not those nervous or squeamish types.. If you are not comfortable with the hand method, build a "grabber to avoid getting your fingers pinched.

C6 rear window grabber
Material: wooden paint stir stick - brand not important
25 mm of wooden pencil - cut lengthways in half
PL adhesive - very little
Method: Glue flat surface of pencil against the end of stick

And I thought only British Sports cars were querky. At least its not as bad as my Dads old 66 Alpine, we used to drive it for one hour and fix it for two.
That damned power top. I could put the manual top on my 1999 C5 up or down in half the time it takes for the power top on my C6, plus I never had any problems with it. I can't wait for the hydraulics to fail. I think if I drain all the hydraulic oil out of the system, or remove the cylinders, I could operate the top manually. Watched a video and only thing missing is the button to open the tonneau. Sure I can rig something up like the trunk and gas filler latch cables on the C5's. What do you think?

I think I just put new seats in our C4. Simple right? They just clip in and out, had the old ones in and out in 5 minutes before.
The passenger side, not bad, The drivers side would not catch the lower left clip. I struggled till I was really annoyed and I walked away. The next morning I did the same. The next afternoon, one more college try, and it clicked in.
I think, try not to tear yours apart, you'll get it. Worst case live with the quirk.
