look up the new fines and penalties if caught now doing 40 klms over the speed limit , they have lowered from 50 klms to 40 klm , increased the impound to 14 days and now 2 year liscence suspension if convicted

not hard to be doing 40 klms over if you are caught when passing a car

I understand the laws, but as long you don’t get pulled over for racing. You got a clean record been driving for numerous amount of years the officer should consider that. Instead of nailing your balls to the wall. Just saying??

The problem is, a few of them (cops) have "buddies" in the towing and impound business. Sadly, that's what these few consider first.

Just another form of TAXATION for anyone who occasionally goes fast. It sucks to like in a country that is becoming more socialist every day. I'm lucky and will probably croak before 2035 when Turdeau eliminates the sale of new internal combustion vehicles. :(

Do you know that Ontario road laws are Provincial and nothing to do with Trudeau or Federal politics? Did you know that Ontario has a Conservative government right now?

I stand corrected & you are right - The Ontario Conservative government is overreaching in this area. Guess I'm seeing so much interference in our lives from Ottawa (especially in Alberta) I was looking to vent and chose the wrong topic to do it.
Cheers, Bob

time to start using my radar detector again just to know where they are , ill take the $145 fine versus they chance of a racing charge , its too easy to get caught if passing a car and a cop is a klm down the rd running radar ,

i just bought a completely concealed beltonics unit for my Corvette that totally undetectable to the cops but just for my truck ,work van and motorcycle ill be using a stand alone unit from now on .

not that i speed at all i just realized its to easy to get caught i, i was talking to a buddy a few weeks ago how stupid i was just passing 3 cars i would of been nailed for sure and i was not even thinking about it as i passed them

As long as it's just a $145 ticket, this makes a lot of sense.

I get it when people are driving like maniacs, but I think the fines are way too punitive for something like 20 over. What is it...95 bucks and 3 points for 120 in a 100 zone. Come on.

I use Waze all the time. It's free and legal. Will show most times where police are among others things like cars stopped on the side of the road or construction and dead animals. Great App. But these days cruise control is my best friend. It's not the fine I worry about. It's the points loss and insurance rates that hurt. Not worth the risk.

Everybody knows this law has nothing to do with making the roads safer, all my close calls are with hopeless drivers going the wrong way, ignoring stop signs, making an unsafe left turn in front of me, turning into my lane (into my car) etc.

This law was created by the Liberals and the infamous McGuinty and the reason why Doug Ford would decide to make it even more ridiculous escapes me.

All politicians regardless of their political stripes like making money off just about anyone and still look like they are commited to "law and order". Just another $$$ grab
