Has anyone come up with a fix or a way to McGyver a way to have the trunk lid pop up more that the 2mm it moves when pushing the power trunk or remote trunk button? My fingers are far from skinny. Anyone? :Confused5: :Confused5:

It can be difficult, I just open and close the door. The air movement seems to pop it open a little more.

Sure someone has a better idea.

You can purchase a ‘helper’ release spring to fit in the trunk lock mechanism.
I also hear that replacing the trunk lid supports helps.
Don’t forget the convertibles too, we have the same issue. Ha ha

How rude of me to forget the convertibles...LOL . Any idea where such a helper release spring can be purchased?

I did find this mod that ‘some’ claim works to pop the trunk .
I have not tried this.

Simple fix without attaching the large spring. Take off the rear center carpeted section that covers the lock mechanism. Next to and slightly in front of the latch there will be a spring with about 1 1/2" extended out with a slight bend. This is the piece that pushes the lid up. With closing and age that piece of spring that sticks out begins to bend downward.

Put pliers to it and bend it back up so it extends above the latch mouth.
The amount you bend it is the amount the trunk lid will raise.

Real easy fix and you can get rid of the spring you added to the lid.

There is also a spring popper you can order.
GLOCKPLATES has a spring to add-on.
Some blogs say you can purchase a spring from HomeDepot that does the same.
