transmission fluid change time frame

As my C8 will need the transmission fluid changed next year, how close to the 3 years mark does it have to be done? eg +/- one month.

Thanks, John
It's "recommended". If it comes when the car is hibernating then don't worry about it until it comes out. Mine was about 6 months late. Mostly because I was lazy.

Did you have it changed at 12K?
It will be changed in the spring. And this issue: The brake warning icon button has the light on. Pressing the button to turn it off turns off the A/C as well. Tech has many pages of codes and not enough time to go through them to find the problem. Too many things to do before winter sets in. The DCT filter was changed at 11,253km last fall before being stored. Had to go to GM customer service because it wasn't changed at the first service as the service advisor said they "didn't have time to do it with changing car over veto winter tires". The advisor isn't with them anymore.

The owner's manual is clear: It must be change at least every three years. So changing it early is fine; you'll just need to change it withing 3 years of the first change. Will GM deny a warranty claim because you changed it a month or 2 late? Probably not, but why take a chance? Follow the manual, and change it before 3 years is up. If that means 6 months early, so be it. That won't hurt anything.

Where do you see "recommended"? The 2024 OM says:

The 2021 is a little less clear, because it's divided between a table and a footnote, but says it needs to be changed at 72,000 km / 45,000 miles "or every three years, whichever comes first."

There's nothing in either OM that suggests the 3 year mark is only a recommendation.

There is a +- window. It's in Techlink

Are you confusing the fluid change with the filter change? The filter change has a +/- 500 mile / 800 km range, but I'm pretty sue there's no such thing for the fluid change. If you have a techlink article that says that, please send me the link.
You may be right there, but it was somewhere. Maybe an engineer said it. Anyway you can't tell me there is no difference between a car driven for three years and a car sitting for 1.5 of the three years. These limits are based on worst case scenario.

GM says that additives in the fluid deteriorate with time, not just use. True? Beats me. The bottles have an expiration date on them (GM says it's good for 3 years after that date), but there are DCTs that have much longer change intervals, or intervals based on mileage only. As expensive as this DCT is t repair or replace, I'll err on the side of caution.
