BC, in trying to reduce the cost of provincially owned insurance, has modified the system so there is no "free" claims. I scuffed the front "splitter" on my SLK a few years ago, The scuff could not be seen and debated fixing. I spoke with ICBC rep and was told because my claims record was good, no increase to insurance so had it repaired. This year my insurance went up substantially on another vehicle.  So I again called ICBC and was told their new policy was retroactive 3 years, and applied to my other vehicles (2 motorcycles and an SUV) and with the increase applied to all my insurance over the next few years I would be paying more than $2500 and if a second claim during this period the insurance would go up about $4500. I ended up paying ICBC back for the $2000 claim and my insurances dropped accordingly.

As far as PPF, its not magic so if OP had PPF it would have been scraped off so maybe good he did not have it done (yet).
