👍 change Differential Fluid

Hi.,..l buy form dealer Differential Fluid he gave me 3 bottle and one small bottle which is I don't know what's that but he say I must to put this one first and of course AC Delco

That is just additive for your limited slip differential. I had limited slip differential additive put in my differential when I had my fluid changed, but it's been 5 years now so I can't remember the specifics, but it is called for when changing the fluid in your differential.

Messy smelly job! I replaced mine with Mobil 1 gear lube that had the additive already in. Not sure if you changed the crush washers but if not keep an eye on them leaking. Stupid expensive from GM but mine was changed under warranty for a leaking drivers side seal. The mechanic reused the washers and it continued to leak.

When I did mine I used a pump made for lower units on outboard motors. Worked will but just make sure the end does not come off in the housing. Nightmare. I kept the gear lube in a pail with really hot water, made it so much easier to pump the lube in when it was hot.

Think you need to drive in slow circles both ways to ensure the clutches are covered with the additive.

Good info .. actually no smell but the oil really black and no leak yet

I used one of these pumps to fill mine;

Available at Canadian Tire. Out of the bottle and into the diff (or tranny if you're doing that job).

As for diff lube, I went with the Royal Purple Max Gear. Limited slip additives are already in there. 3 seasons on it now, zero issues. Red Line D4 for the M6, if anyone is wondering.

The part I hate besides the smell of gear oil is that you are supposed to avoid any WOT driving for the first 300 miles after a diff fluid change.
