I know all this; but, have also read that a 4.2L might be available? Time shall tell: I would only want the 6.2L myself as 500Hp is more than enough for me to go to the golf club and tennis club - LOL. The 4.2L could easily be tuned with > turbo power to get the HP way up there: less weight as well.It has been vigorously denied that the 4.2L is ever going into the ME Corvette, and separately confirmed through a secondary source. It is looking like the first year we only get one motor, a roughly 500 HP, LT1 derived (though enhanced), traditional Corvette V8, with pushroads, OHV, and is naturally aspirated. Whether it will be called an LT2, and LTZ or whatever is not yet known. The HP versions of ME motors coming in the following years, will most likely be a 5.5L, 32V, DOHC, twin turbo V8, though more details are not known.
What is interesting about the above 4.2L that is confirmed to be going into the CT6, is that it is being hand assembled right now at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant — but only for the CT6’s. They will make approximately 2,000-3,000 units per year via a team of six engine assembly specialists within the Powertrain Build Center located inside the Plant — the same PBC where if you select your “build your own motor,” $5,800 option (US), you used to be able to build your LT4 or LT5 motor.
The PBC is currently being expanded significantly in size, gobbling up space where the old paint shop used to be — though we do not know whether it is taking up 1/3, 40% or even 1/2 of the old paint shop’s area.
Even if I had a million dollars, no V8, no Corvette for me, mid engine or not. My next daily driver will probably be a V6 and I am not looking forward to that.I know all this; but, have also read that a 4.2L might be available? But what I’d we add a Turbo to that V6 for you sir ... ?Even if I had a million dollars, no V8, no Corvette for me, mid engine or not. My next daily driver will probably be a V6 and I am not looking forward to that.
Yes since my next DD will most likely have to be a V6, this would do nicely. And AWD of course.
My first real V8 car was a C2 with factory side pipes and a 427. I will never forget the sound of that car. I had a few muscle cars after that, and some sounded almost as good as that L36. But it was that V8 sound that I was hooked on. Even my V8 daily drivers today have Flowmasters that let them talk.(My wife isn't as excited about that as I am) V6's and V10's just don't have the sound I want. Their tone is flat. It's sad to see the V8 fading into the sunset. All this talk of a V6 in the new ME Vette doesn't help. You can put 10 turbos AND a supercharger on that V6. I don't want it. And don't get me started on electric. I don't care how fast they are.Bixter44, and the reason for that please is???
