Taking the car in. Codes among other.

1. Ya, so of course the CEL went away. The dealer told me there was no point in leaving it if there was no codes.
2. He tried the same thing I did to get the DCT update on the car. "No updates available"! Hey! GM! Your software is useless!
3. Dealer did say the email I got from GM about the emissions issue was likely the cylinder 8 misfire.

BTW, when I started the car before Thom and I left my place for the trip to Spencer's, the engine light came on as well as a message about the traction control system "Service the traction control system" or something like that. When we left the DCT was really acting weird. The shifts were brutal. We pulled over and stopped the car and restarted and all was well. The CEL was still lit but the car acted normally.
Today when I left for the dealer, the dct seemed to act up a bit, but only for about a kilometer.

Not much fun....how much mileage on your car at this point?

a touch more than 4700 kms. This is the third time I've gotten a CEL and the third time it's gone away on it's own.

There has been some faulty valve spring issues with a few GM cars not just the C8.
Although it has been reported within the first few hundred miles on most vehicles.
May be something to keep an eye on.
Ya, I thought of that. My build date is smack dab in the middle of the dates for the bad springs too. As you stated all the spring failures that we've heard of have happened before 800 kms (500 miles). But it will always be a worry in the back of my mind.

I know the feeling. My '06 Zo6 was an April build and many owners had
head failures with that model, most having to be rebuilt.
But so far after 14 years I haven't had any issues. But it is always in the back of ones mind.
Hopefully your warnings will stop as quick as they started.
My C8 was built the week before yours so I'm in the same boat, but I don't winter
drive so I only have 1200 kms to date.

And you likely haven't bounced off the rev limiter several times. Of course, neither have I! Honest! ;)
