I've got a 1985 with 222600 kilometres on the dial, that starts up lickety- split every morning! It warms up fairly well, a little rough sometimes until normal operating temperature is achieved. Drive to work, about half hour on the road, it then sits unused for around 9 hours. When attempting to start up for the ride home, it cranks over rapidly, yet will not fire up unless I push the accelerator halfway down. I've opened the key and waited 10-20 seconds before cranking, to build up fuel pressure, but this doesn't seem to make a difference. Everything is new, plugs, cap, rotor, wires, coil, etc. any ideas?
If it was a carberated engine, I would be looking at a choke problem. Same symptoms.
