Still seeing vettes

Well Riley..... I think if CCF can have a global forum, we should also be able to have a ..... hmmmmmm..... a 40 below forum....Yup.... 40 degrees below..... just for Saskatchewan and Alberta... and Siberia of course....

Don`t even ask whether it is Fahrenheit or Centigrade. They are both about the same way down there. Now, you guys can just keep that cold there for a while. We`ve been hitting 50F the odd day lately so that would be too much of a shock on our systems. We`d still be driving our car on the dry days but every night that it gets down near freezing, they lay down sand and salt at all the intersections.

I can't wait until they come out with an awd Corvette. Then I can drive it all year round!..... But I probably still wouldn't drive it in the winter so they might as well keep it rwd. :D

AWD or not, we would still fear the other drivers on icy roads. I was rear-ended last winter while sitting at a red light. Would have cried if that had been my Corvette...

A friend has a Nissan GTR with awd. Talk about launch. With the horsepower these cars are putting out today, it's a must to have AWD to get the cars to launch. I'm surprised that GM hasn't offered it in the Corvette yet.

That's interesting because the hypercar makers are going in the opposite direction and pushing over 1000hp stock through the rear wheels. A few notable exceptions such as Porsche.

Lamborghini just launched its first rwd supercar in ages.

up to yesterday I've seen a few but as you say that was spring like ....... now it's cold, snowy, and salty.......I doubt I"ll see any more 'til spring.

Have a safe, happy Christmas and a healthy New Year ...... and pray for an early spring.

Colin.

hmmmmm.... a Christmas Day Corvette cruise.... now that sounds like a good idea.... I even opened up some extra parking space in the yard today in case we all end up back here.... Uggggghhh.... Please spring....come soon :Arghh:

No snow here but they had salted the highway the 12+ miles to Lindsay. Can't be too careful you know.

I grew up on the east coast and they used so much salt on the road in the 60's that they ended up contaminating private water wells in numerous communities and had to install municipal water supply. I can remember salt trucks stopping at the corner store and often forgetting to shut the spreader off. They would just back up, drop the blade and wing the pile off into the ditch.

That happened in Janetville, a village west of here. Salt got into the ground water ruining their wells. Got expensive for the township. A few years ago, the township road workers were on strike. Management did the best they could but the roads weren't great. Everyone slowed down a little. Surprisingly, by the end of the winter there were fewer accidents than in past years. Surprise, surprise. ;)

true that Keith, true that. Slowing down and actually driving for the conditions would save a lot of accidents and almost eliminate the need for salt. It's mostly sand they use out here due to the extreme cold....well.... the extreme cold we use to get.... salt just didn't work that well.... suits me... nasty stuff, both salt and calcium chloride....
