starting problems intermitin

I have a 2004 c5 conv.the car runs fine but every ounce in awhile it decides not to start.I cleaned the cables installed a new end on positive cable and put in a new battery.Every ounce in awhile i have a security light come on would this have something to do with this problem?Love the car but my patients is wearing thin, any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. How is your key? Is the chip dirty? Maybe it's not reading the correct ohms and it thinks that someone is trying to steal your car?

Will theft deterant prompt on the DIC not be displayed then if engaged?
I have heard of even bad ignition contacts on the key switch.
