After visiting Manny's shop tomorrow, we were planning to go to the St. Jacobs Market. A big fire there sort of changes our plans some. It is sad to see things like this happen.

That's a shame. I hope they do rebuild.
We've seen so many times where sprinkler systems could have made such a difference but retrofitting is both inconvenient and expensive.
For sure the new building will have them.

I was just up that way with Terry for a show at the Festival.

St Jacobs was the last "away from home" trip we took with my dad....and the last trip he took himself. We sat at the table and had pizza and Cherry strudel....can't wait until it's back.

Apparently, a deep fat fryer was left on all night and caught fire. Is that true?

I've not heard for sure Greg. Last I read the fire marshall's office is still investigating.

Those deep fryers are very dangerous and have started countless fires. Most people don't realize how dangerous they really are, and that they can retain so much heat, far in excess of most common combustibles ignition point.

They need a lot of respect and care.
