Sold my Chevelle today. Not too happy about it but I'd rather have a house with a garage than cars sitting out in the weather. At least the new owner was really, really excited.

At least I have the Corvette to dry my tears......

We sold two Chevelles before buying our Corvette. Selling a real SS396 Chevelle can get you a pretty nice Corvette. Worked for us. Every Oshawa built Chevelle that I have seen in the past few years has had the American raised hood added. I see that yours looks so factory. Malibu SS. Going from the Chevelles to the Corvette, there were no tears at all. It was time to move on.

Funny thing these cars. When I sold my 66 Chevelle I was afraid the guy was going to bring it back!

Riley your car looks to have been a little straighter than mine, nice looking car. As Graham says you can always get another one.

Thanks for the support guys! I love the modern cars, but the feel and sound of the Chevelle is hard to beat. The sound of a lumpy BBC is one of my favorite sounds that was hard to hear drive away. As stated, there are other ones out there, but this one I knew inside and out after having it for 19 years.

As you noticed Keith, the body is still stock and It's not an SS 138 car as we couldn't get those in Canada in 1966. This was an A51 car with the Malibu SS Option. Similar to the US SS, but not quite as fancy. I do now have a 66 SS hood for sale, never painted with the inserts. I was thinking of putting it on until I realized the Malibu SS never came with such a hood. Funny how planned projects plans change.

Sad day for sure Riley but you and wifey have wanted a new house for a while so it's a good thing.
Always time later for more toys when the time is right.
I bet the new owner babies it as much as you have.

Congrats on being one step closer to new digs.

Colin

Well, the guy could have been totally lying about wanting to take care of the car but I didn't get that feeling from him. I believe his plan was to enjoy the car for a summer or two than start tearing into it for a restoration. He showed me his previous car and it was a gorgeous looking 66 Nova so it makes it a easier knowing it's going to a good home. If someone asked to buy the car just to part it out, they would have to pay double for the car so I totally understand what you are talking about. Then there are other owners that once they get the money from the buyer, they couldn't care less if the new owner crumpled it into a ball and rolled it into a slew.
