Just wondering if there are any C7 Corvette owners who haven’t taken advantage of the GM subsidized Ron Fellows Corvette driving school in Pahrump Nevada who might be interested in going at the end of May?
A group of 4 us of from Winnipeg are booked for the end of May (30th / 31st).

It would be cool to fill the remaining the spots with more Canadians. 4 of us went in 2015 and we had a blast. Private message me for more details as to where we’re staying while down there.

Sounds like a good time 81. With luck a few other Canadians will join in.

Have fun.

Well there might be up to 5 of us now terrorizing Spring Mountain. Would be nice to hit a full team of 9 or 10 Canadians, as that is usually how they split the class up of 18 to 20.

They usually take a class of 20 and split into 6 groups of 3-4 to a group. Then they constantly adjust the members of each group based on their skill development/ability. I know it pissed my wife off a bit as she slipped out of a middle group down to the second bottom group, while I moved up to the top group. By doing this they can ensure each group moves at a good pace for everyone in the group and there isn't one member holding everyone else back.

... question ...
I'm trying to research comments on whether this "offer" has value for a new C7 owner who is initially trying to figure out what these do-dads and dial modes are really all about. I won't ever be track racing my Stingray even though it would probably be safer than having to drive on the streets eh. I've driven already in one of those famous downpours between Red Deer and Calgary in "wet mode" (only because the mode says "wet") but ... couldn't tell you if it mattered.
So I am weighing out the trip ... and appreciate anyone's 5 cents (because 2 cents is now 5 cents rounded up with gst) of experience with the "offer". Thanks!

I have not personally been to Ron's school but have driven with him and mostly behind him a few times if that counts :). I've also done lots and lots of track days. My personal recommendation is to take up any high performance driving event you can, even for non-track junkies you learn a great deal about your car, physics, traction and what you can, cannot and should do on the edge.

Ron Fellows days are superb value and the location doesn't hurt either. Everyone I've spoken to and most threads I've seen have been resoundingly positive about it. So I'd go if you have that option.

Thank you Nik. I value as many first hand thoughts as I can receive. I've driven Muscle Cars but those were "oranges" compared to this "apple".
Huge fan of Ron Fellows in nascar's road races, even bigger one of the #3 GMGWSP Driver well before it recently getting a new name on it ... sigh!
I am all about physics (no so much so with biology and chemistry)

That 'W' means 'wet mode'? For a year now I thought the W was short for 'What the HeII were you doing in Track Mode anyway...' :WillyNilly:

This course will make you a better driver. Best value you will ever get for a driving school, and the wear and tear is on their cars not your own. If you want to learn about the various modes this will help you learn how the car systems really work and assist you. You'll go through the various sessions that focus on teaching techniques, like properly looking forward into your turns, they will cover the windshield with a sunscreen so you can only see out the side windows as you go through a slalom towards the end of the session. Then there is the wet skid pad session where they get you to drive the car as hard as you can with no nannies, and yes you will spin out, then they show how the car behaves with nannies back on and in wet mode, a world of difference. There are a few class sessions where they go through in detail various features of the car. In the end you will better appreciate your car and what it is doing for you especially at the limit. you'll also become a better driver, whether it's accident avoidance, or learning how to look into your turns.

Best part for me was learning the limits of the car, learning new skills and experiencing pushing my limits. The other was having my wife take the course, for years she complained about my driving since I've always cornered to carry speed through, now she appreciates aND doesn't complain about that part of my driving LOL.

Great review Mike.

The day I was there the bikes were running so I did not get to see any Corvette action. It is a really nice facility that appears to be very professionally run. I would love to give it a go but that is not going to happen.

Thank you smackYYZ.
Posting first-hand experience of the event is so valuable to know and it is appreciated. I have until August and the sooner the better this Spring if I can. For those who add their experience to this thread, it really helps one to best judge on whether this is a "must" to be considered in a (first time) new C7 buying budget. The Drivers' Experience was first brought to my attention by an awesome GM Dealership Owner that I have the pleasure of knowing. He has a Corvette (or two) - unfortunately his Dealership isn't able to sell them. In helping to point me in the right direction(s) during my persnickety Corvette purchase process, this was one of the first things he recommended that I make sure to do from the get-go! ... so I do realize that it's now time for me to cr@p or get of the pot eh :Seeya:

Just go ahead and book it. It has to be so educational, chance to push yourself to your limits with an expert beside you to help you succeed.

OK ... I am confirmed and off to Nevada in a week. :Woohoo:

Thank you to all who added to this thread with the information (and encouragement:thumbs:) !

My apologies to "81Wayne" for selfishly hijacking his thread :angelic:.

It would be my preference and I would have loved to join on May 30th & 31st but my business schedule has just opened up that normally keeps me confined to a 15 day commitment schedule
... so now we can all get back to getting a few more :canada: to go at the end of May ..... :Seeya:
(which has 5 seats remaining as of March 24th)

Wow when you decide something its done! Can't wait to hear all about it. Enjoy the experience.

The last time 4 of us from Winnipeg went we advanced quite quickly, even though they the split the group on the track into 2 smaller groups and spaced us apart we caught up to other group and they had to pull over and let us pass. Guess we were a little more advanced then the other group. The instructors that day were all driving Camaro's. They teach a few other skills on larger concrete pads and you get a fair amount of classroom time learning about diving modes. Plus they take you into the service area and they go over others aspects of the C7, it quite an educational experience that everyone should consider when you buy a new C7. When we went in 2015 we were on the 2.2 mile track layout.

Here was my experience

Congrats on booking, it's a great experience, you'll walk away and come back home feeling a lot more confident about driving your car. Not to mention the extra knowledge about the different driving modes and bonus ones within track mode. If anyone else is considering going please drop me a P/M if you can go the end of May, or if you want some money saving tips re booking flights and accommodations any time you go.
Having gone before we learned a few things re total trip costs. :canada:

Would love to join you but am planning on going earlier in May, schedule conflict for late in the month. Have no intention of tracking the new GS but anxious to learn more driving skills. Not anxious to push the limits with the GS on the streets.

Yes it is way too bad you can't join us,
