Right handed drive C8 sales commitment for Japan

GM has now finalized what will be offered for sale in Japan (3 versions of the C8), pricing (wow!), an expected May 2021 delivery, and that the right-hand-drive C8 will be made in Bowling Green. See below for today's article hot off the press from GM Authority (Deivis Centeno).

What will this mean for North American production numbers, if Bowling Green is manufacturing cars for the Japanese market? And what about elsewhere in the world? The already shortened 2021 production year slated to start towards the end of 2020, perhaps just got even "shorter" for North American buyers...

You've got to figure that World Wide demand must equate to 40% of all cars considering commitments to Australia as Holden Special Vehicles and Japan. Didn't they sell 300 C8's in a few hours in Japan?

There's a guy from Dubai posting in the main Corvette forum that Al Ghandi Motors will see their first C8's this spring/Summer.

if GM send some unit in japan before i received my C8 im done with GM and go back to Porsche ! they should provide the C8 for North America until the meet the demand ! this is bad for the Z06 and every other model that was supposed to came after the base model

Porsche sell cars worldwide based on global demand. Why shouldn't GM? Buyers in other countries may help the economics of keeping the cars so cheap for us in North America.

Agreed. I ordered in fall 2019 but was fine with a 2021. If cars are delivered internationally prior to me getting a C8 I will be cancelling and going with a Porsche..but then I am not crying over having to wait until next yr as I am not obsessed with the C8...

Same to me for 2021 I’m good but I will not wait for 2022 ! If I don’t have it in summer 2021 I’m gone

Makes sense..There are only a few folks ahead of me at my smallish dealer...they have had 7 out of 10 of their 2020's built/being built and I was first for a 2021 so I am anticipating spring delivery...

A friend of mine bought a Porsche GT3 RS. He waited 18 months to get his car. He waited 2 years for his Ferrari Pista. GM is not going to fill all US and Canada orders first before sending cars to overseas markets. They will be allocating a certain percentage to various markets based on the demand. If no one buys a C8 in Germany, GM will not be sending dozens of cars there. The C8 market is hot right now, and may be for another year or two. It will die down, so will the wait times until a new model comes out, then the process repeats itself. This really isn't much different then Apple launching a new iPhone. Buyers wait in line for 2 days to be the first to get the phone. Six months later it's obsolete and Apple makes a new improved model and buyers are back in line waiting.
Patience, there will be plenty of C8's to go around.

When I buy a new vehicle I alrady have an idea of what I want next. Problem is, my C8 is 8-10 months away but I already have an idea what I want next.
