r.i.p. ray manzarek, extraordinary musician. his keyboards were responsible for that signature sound of the doors, as popular today as 45 years ago. my all time favourite band, i have nearly everything ever recorded by them. i even got the opportunity to see them live back in 70. thanks ray.

Wow! That is sad. He was an extraordinary musician. The Doors were/are a great band. A big loss to the music industry. :(

I was quite shocked when my wife told me this today. I too have always been a big fan of their music. Jim's lyrics mixed with Ray's keyboards and Robby's haunting guitar work where magical.

Sad news indeed, I remember seeing them at the Rock 'n Roll revival at Varsity Stadium in Toronto, my first date with a new girl and the show ran very late, Think I got her home about 2am, her parents were most impressed. The Doors put on a terrific show that night, Morrison was really on form. I can remeber when they closed the show with "Light My Fire" all the lighters came out and it was quite a scene.
