Your opinion matters! Lately Brass Heater Cores have become more difficult to find for 1956-1982 Corvettes. Corvette Central wants to hear your opinions on Aluminum Heater Core manufacturing. Aluminum Heater Cores are less expensive and more consistently available. What’s your take?

Well, when talking about radiators, Brass radiators get a bad wrap for some reason. I think it's because they are heavy but they do cool extremely well. I think the reason why aluminum seem to cool so much better is solely because they are lighter and therefore can be made bigger with a larger cooling/heat transfer area.

As for cores, I haven't actually seen any aluminum heating cores. Do they have to be made bigger to transfer the heat as well? If they are bigger, will they still fit the existing area? I like the fact that aluminum doesn't rust so hopefully they would be more reliable requiring less times to be replaced?
