I am currently having my original 70 coupe rally rims restored and powdercoated rally wheel silver. I am undecided on which size tires I want to run. The factory modern F70-15 equivalent would be a 215/70R15. I am leaning towards either a 225/70R15, 235/60R15 or 245/60R15. The car was purchased with 215/65R15's on all 4 corners and they are a bit on the small size, height and width wise. Please post what sizes you are running with a good side photo illustrating ride height and wheelwell spacing, along with any clearance or rubbing issues.

Only one that I could find when I had 255’s on all 4 corners. Someone on a Vette forum posted this pic at Wasaga Beach about 5 or 6 yrs ago. I’ve been running 17” TTII’s for the last 4 years with no desire to go back to 15”.

Ziggy nothing says "I'm Special" like 22" on a C3.

Good luck with your search, tires and wheels really do make a huge difference in appearance, the rally wheels all cleaned up should look great.

I had 255/60R15 on rear and 245/60R25 on front of my '73. I could not fit 255's in front without rubbing. Prior to that I had 225/70R15 and they seem to narrow for the car.

245/60R15 would look good IMO, although they are a slightly smaller diameter than what stock tires would have been if I remember correctly. The 255/60R15 would be very close to correct diameter but in pre '78 cars you would need to verify fit in the front due to cars being assembled by hand. some cars fit them and some did not.......mine did not. I had slight rubbing on the sway bar at full lock both directions.

hope this helps...at least a little.

I have been driving with 255/60-15 for about thirty years, no clearance problems.
Not many tire manufacturers left, BFG I think, and no 'Summer Only' tires that I could find.

Do you have the 255's on the front and rear? Thanks for posting.

I just received my rally rims back from powdercoating and man they look awesome. Ordered a set of 245/60/15 BFG's from Costco. Fantastic pricing, $1007 with tax for a set of 5. I also hunted down and purchased a NOS set of GM sombraro rally wheel center caps, still looking for a NOS set of trim rings as mine have some flaws. I had 2 tires mounted yesterday and will check clearances on a short drive in a couple days when the weather warms up slightly. Thanks to everyone for the input. Will post back with results and pictures.
