Finally got around to refinishing my spare set of wheels. I had originally striped them down in the 90's and polished by hand. The finish eventually got dull, and off they came off only to sit in storage ever since. Until recently I got the sandpaper out again. I did the vents, and barrels in black to bring the mirror like finish out more. Happy with how these turned out, but since I've decided to put 90 zr-1 rims on my car will probably sell these - it would be a real shame to let them sit around another quarter century!

Cheers!

Looks great. I am curious if anyone has painted the vents body colour? My rims are in great shape, just the centercaps showing some clearcoat issues. I have replaced them with C6 rims, but want to hang on to the stockers.

No but after seeing Louie's, I'd like something like that myself. I was thinking black but body colour would be even better.

Painting the vents the body color is certainly a custom option but usually I've seen the whole rim painted:

All red......ouch, my retinas! Like the white, but not on he lip. I think the Polo Green would look great.

OMG, looked closer.....woodgrain mac-tac? That wheel would belong on a '73, along with green shag and harvest gold accents!

LOL yes, not everyone's 'cup of tea' for sure. There is a white wheel on the special edition 35th anniversary '88 which is all white inside and out.

Not sure if you've seen it or not so here's the link:

Actually; I have always liked the wheels (Salad Shooters) on my car. If I was going to replace them it would be with the ZR1 wheels off a 94/95.

However; if going to use a modified a wheel, this salad shooter from a 90 would be nice.

Those do look cool, but now that I think about it I really do like the center cap better - guess it looks cleaner. Also got me thinking the designers who designed this wheel backwards to expel the heat from the brakes. In '88 the big selling feature was the new style calipers and larger rotors. When you see these wheels in motion they give off an optical illusion they're spinning backwards. Later on when GM designed the next generation saw blades the vent direction was changed. That explains why so many times guys put these cuisinart rims on backwards, I always thought the guy who mounted them did it wrong.

It is funny how C4 wheels are so subjective. I was not aware of all the nuances before I became an owner. I agree with the 88s being my favorite for the clean look. I do not like the high cost of replacement covers! I am not sure about the spinners, they look great on C2's, would these not stick out?.
