Hi all,

CCF will be undergoing a significant platform upgrade over the next couple of weeks. This was originally planned a few months ago but had some personal setbacks to deal with.

All said and done I will gradually disable certain features prior to the upgrade before going ahead with it so do not panic if you see some things stop working. It's temporary.

The base forum functionality should largely work as it does today.

Will keep you posted but expect sporadic downtime for 10-30 mins on occasion.

There are loads of new features that I'll be building on top of the new upgraded forum - particularly around Events that has been sorely lacking.

Thanks for your patience.

Folks, have started the migration for CCF. There will be sporadic outages and as mentioned I will be disabling all functionality other than basic posting as part of the migration. Will keep you updated as this will be done in stages.

Few noteworthy items.....

To keep up with the the cool kids these days below are notable changes to CCF:

1. The new CCF theme will by default come Dark in colour - you can switch it back to white/light but Dark looks good. Takes a bit of adjustment at first if you've never seen it, easier on the eyes and improves your phone battery life when browsing the forum. So think of it as environmentally friendly or sort of like an EV without the EV bit.

2. Most features will be brought back incrementally so it will take a little while to get us back to parity

3. There's a totally new Events system in the works - separate thread on this one

The initial cut will be pretty barebones so don't run away. Will be a little different. :)

As always suggestions, feedback is welcomed.

We're back.... Mostly

I've defaulted styling to a very basic style until we get things patched up. You have the option to switch back styles and modes using the button on the bottom left.

Classifieds is back also. Will restore and patch functionality throughout the weekend.

Hello CCF Peeps,

Platform upgrade completed. I've layered in a new default theme (logo for new theme is work in progress) to reflect the change over. The old theme will be disabled in light of a new cleaner, leaner look that I hope you'll learn to love.

The theme can be toggled light/dark or it will default to your system default (windows or phone system theme defaults should be respected). Hope you enjoy.

Hopefully major outages should be behind us now.

There will be two themes offered at the moment, you can select them by scrolling to the bottom and hitting the style chooser button.
CCF Base - CCF base theme
Default - Simplified theme

You can switch between light, dark or system default by hitting the style variation button next to the Style Chooser (little circle).

FYI: The "bell" says I have new posts, but it also says I've read them all "A moment ago" and I haven't.

Hit the Preferences under one of the alerts and you can remove the bulk read indicator. It shows that you've read the alert not the actual post btw. That's also an option that you can set.

I don't understand the point of having alerts if you can't tell which ones you haven't read. Seems illogical to me. Why even have an option? Not complaining, I just don't see the point.

It makes sense when you have a significant volume of alerts that you want to glimpse rather than individually inspect/click into. It will also group alerts on same date by type so when I get 100 angry faces - it'll make me feel good by doing a summary view of 1 (x 100). When we get really cool and popular it'll make sense.
:)

Next in line for upgrades (no particular order - mostly all ready now):

1. Review system - new and improved
2. Styling - username styling is back - good luck to us
3. Auto refresh blocks for new posts and other tabs

Upcoming:
Coin bank, new event system.

Here's some options you may not have spotted around theme selection and/or various new modes:
