Thank you Scherer Chevrolet in Kitchener. Our Salesman/Manager was great every step of the way and could not be happier with the full experience with Rob Woods! Placed the deposit on our C8 October 21, allocation given December 15 2022, built Feb 15, delivered March 9 and picked up today! What a ride! Well worth the wait! He was even able to save us the Luxury tax, etching, a couple of hats and a full tank of gas. Does that mean we got it below MSRP? Lol. Looking forward to an excellent driving summer! Thanks to everyone here for all the knowledge and support! Made the wait easier.

Exactly! Had a deposit with one of the Big 3 before I talked to Rob at Scherer. They would not even talk to me about a build or an agreement. Rob made sure that we took care of that right away. He wanted to make sure I had somewhat of a protection. I was still 3 months away with the big dealer and would have paid more as well. 24 model and Luxury tax. Sure glad I called Scherer Chevrolet and talked to Rob!

Not 100% sure how they got around it. I do know that my salesman made sure that I went in and redid the paper work just before the tax was implemented.

I did not pay the luxury tax as I had a signed contract before 2022 as stated below

Did you have the options and dollar cost on it? Asking because I also have a signed contract "Vehicle Purchase Agreement" before 2022. It has the model, but not the year, options or price. Also would you mind sharing which dealer?

Wondering how likely I can use this to get away from paying the stupid tax too.
 
mine was for a 21 ended up with a 23. Picked all my options and got the price then and signed a agreement they also waved the dealer fees on my insistence at the time. The C8 came to $ 101,000 so the tax would have been very little its the principal of the thing. Most at that dealership (MacMasters/ London) customers paid the luxury tax I didn't

Sounds to me like your dealership just gave you a $200 discount so you would stop bitching about a $200 Lux Tax that they will still pay to the Gov for this transaction.
