Hi all,

Anyone ever measure their C6 from one Side View mirror to the other? I'd like to make sure I won't have any clearance issues come next year.

I've seen an overall width given on most sites for C6's but, I really doubt it's from the side view mirrors. I think this was most likely from the widest part of the chassis.

I was thinking how this could be measured, perhaps with both windows open having someone hold a tape measure on one side view mirror (without scratching the paint :D ) then measure at the other one.

Thanks for the help in advance.

if you don't have someone to help or want to be a bit more accurate, you could always hold a long stick or a large leveler perpendicular to the ground at the mirrors, chalk the ground then do the same to the other side and measure the chalk marks :)

I was thinking the same thing: plumb a line from the outer edges of the mirrors and measure between the plumbs.
If I get a chance tomorrow I'll give it a try. My garage is ideal since it's level and wind free.

Any of those measurement methods sound good to me. I'd appreciate it if you could take the time to measure this dimension. Thanks!

ON my '11 Grand Sport that distance you want is:

----- 82 7/8"
----- 2.15 m.

To get that I plumbed a line from the outside of the mirrors to the floor on both sides and measured between the marks.

Bear in mind that mine is a GS -- I don't think the distance is different from the base body but I'm not sure.

What clearance next year? on the highway? at home? in the garage? for the cover?

Of course you guys remember that the side mirrors fold ??!!

So.....distance will be somewhat less than quoted by Colin.

Tony,
welland

Quite right Tony -- but he did say "from ear to ear".:D

My mirrors fold in near enough 5" which puts them inside the widest part of the body.

CCO, thanks so much for the time you took out of your day to do this. It definately helped.

Clearance to fit in my single-car garage. I was afraid it wouldn't fit and that I'd have to find an alternate storage location which I would hate.

I certainly didn't know this, but this is great news.

Well, I just got done measuring the opening to the garage again to make sure and it's 92" from plastic seal to seal. 94" to the frame. I have about 200" depth available until I'd have to clear some items off the front (according to Wikipedia, the car's length is 175.6"). And I have about 87" width near the front of the car available unless I move out my chest freezer which is up against the wall (according to Wikipedia, the car's width is 75.9").

My goal for next year, near June/July is to buy my dream car, a yellow 2008 Corvette Z06 with the 3LZ package. I've been researching it for a while and that's exactly what I want. I'll post up an ad with a 'looking to buy' near that time. For now, I want to continue saving. I'm very patient, I will only buy the perfect Vette. Relatively low mileage, original tires, service records, no winters (no rain would be a plus), minor mods are fine, no extensive mods (top/bottom work / FI). Flexible on interior colours, factory only of course. I've seen at least two Vettes like this before, I just never had the chance to buy them at that time.

Now I see why you wanted specs... Good luck on the perfect used Corvette! Should have no trouble finding a yellow one! ....

I'd like the perfect red one......

Will you have enough room once inside the garage to be able to open your door to get out?

Very good question. I think I'll have to end up clearing the one side of the garage so that I can. It's going to be interesting, but at least it seems doable. I was more worried about hard clearances, i.e. garage door opening size. Things that would be costly to open up.
