Oil change and getting ready fo bed

Always mixed emotions putting them away. Just don't be the clown who takes the car cover off half way through winter. Because you know what that means right? Yes the other half of winter and it will be your fault.

Hope you enjoyed your C7.

I refuse to let mine sleep yet. Sheesh. there's only 100k on the odo... When my C6 got covered for bed, I had coffee with her every morning and then in February I make sure all the lights are off in the garage and pull off the cover... Worked last year... She didn't see her shadow and we had an early spring... Will see if the C7 is as good at predicting spring....

Yup taking mine in for it's free Mobile 1 oil change and also getting the OnStar upgrade done tomorrow.

And unfortunately I had the "Service Rear Axle" warning again when I had it out on Sunday, hoe it's not another new Module, will see.

Had snow on the weekend, but will try and get another 3-4 weeks of driving in before being put to bed

Had a spit of snow last Saturday but no sand and salt .I back my car into the garage with the nose pointed south

I back mine into the garage, it faces East, always worry about the old saying "nothing good comes out of the East" .... tomorrow sounds like we may be able to have another run, before hybernation.

Had an incredible time at Spring Mountain last week! Did not want it to come to an end.....might have to do it again! For anyone unsure if it's for them I'm 72 with two knee replacements! Your safety is their primary concern. What a great group of dedicated professionals totally focused on you having a rewarding and fun experience. I'd never have found out what the C7 is capable of if I hadn't taken this course. Thank you Ron Fellows!

How did the 4G OnStar module change go? What do they do? Have not been able to find out from three dealers what exactly is involved with a C7. My first two letters from OnStar said I had until December 2016 for the free upgrade. Two letters recently say December 2015. I was planning to wait until spring when she comes out of storage.

How many times has that "Service Rear Axle" light come on now? Someone at SM has had it happen several times too. Complete diff change the second time.

And I was told by a GM dealer yesterday that they don't use Mobil 1 anymore. If I insisted on it it they would have to special order it.

How did the OnStar upgrade go? Where does the new module go? No one (not even a dealer) has been able to tell me yet. I'm hoping they don't have to take apart the interior console.

And I was told Friday by one dealer that they recommend and use Pennzoil now and if I wanted Mobil 1 for my C7 it would have to be a special order.

First I've heard of this. My car was in Monday and they put in Mobile 1, no issues. I would ask to see GM's notice regarding the change.

OnStar upgrade had issues, seems they now have to install a new antenna which has to be ordered in from the US.

Also I was having issues with the BlueTooth with my phone. I can answer calls but almost never works correctly for placing calls. My phone works fine in my other 2 cars, so I know it's not the phone. So, seems in Ontario they outsource the service for this, so they need 24 hours notice so they can book tech in. So I left the car over night so they tech could come in and fix. So pick it up the next day, Service Tech says they wiped the Blue Tooth pairings and after repairing it should be fixed. Well I was in a rush since I was on my way to a wedding ( ugh, on a Friday afternoon ), so when I stopped to pick up my wife from work, I repaired the phone. Once on our way, same thing could not properly make a call. Frustrating!

I didn't even question about the Mobil 1, since they have always used. But I just looked at my service bill and it doesn't say Mobil1 10953468, Just Dexos part 19286279.

GGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Called and they said sorry bring buy anytime and they'll change it out.

My service bill does state Dexos and under part number 10953468, 10 L at $150 which is the cost of the oil change if I had to pay. I asked to make sure they put in Mobile 1 and they said yes, although Dexos is on the invoice, the part number is correct.

Well, they changed it out in 45 minutes.

The service adviser popped the hood when I got there and said, look it doesn't say Mobil 1 on the filler cap. I said your right, no idea why it doesn't, might be a good idea to change it, since GM has a bulletin stating that the Corvette dry sumps get Mobil 1. He went to his terminal and checked and said yup. After the oil change the service manager came to me and said he adviser put the wrong part number on for the oil change. I said both of you got it wrong and both of departments should have know better.

Makes you wonder sometimes.

Good for you Mike. You would think some things would be so simple, like a little product knowledge on behalf of the dealer.

I bought an oil filler cap with Mobil 1 on it (nearly $40 including tax) because the dealer said if I didn't chances are something else would go in otherwise. Another dealer told me recently they have now switched to Pennzoil and Mobil 1 would have to be special ordered if I wanted it.

When in Bowling Green for the Corvette Bash last April I had a very interesting chat with Tadge Juechter about the issue of getting GM dealers to use not only Mobil 1 in Z51s with the dry sump engine but also the right oil filter! And as I found out not everyone doing oil changes on Corvettes knows the dry sump engine has two drain plugs.

At some point in the 2014 model year GM did switch to oil filler caps with Mobil 1 on them, apparently. My C7 was built in late April 2014 but it still arrived with a cap saying "Dexos".

My 2015 was built in August/14 and still has the Dexos oil cap. Go figure?????
