Thoughts? I think business will make out better during the phase out of the penny as the price gets rounded down if 1.01 to 1.02 but gets rounded up if the price is above 1.03. I've never really liked having a pocket full of pennies, so, my wallet will be lighter in the end!

I believe all Home Depots, will be rounding down.

A cashier told me that she expects a few customers will want to argue with her about the end of the pennies. Another reason why I could never have a job that involved heavy involvement with the public.

whatcha' wanna bet everything gets rounded up ? remember the metric disaster, paying the same price for a litre as we did for a quart ? :swear:

Well, under the new rules, that would be 0 cents worth. You better add one more cent of worth to have it rounded up!:D

Rounding up or down on totals isn't going to affect us much, but the savings on making them will likely have a bigger impact. Each apparently cost 2c to make.

my 0 cents worth.:D

I never brought pennies home... always threw them in the penny tray on the counter(s)

I was thinking the same thing! How many people throw more than just their pennies in the collection boxes at the store? I guess UNICEF will have to collect nickels instead of pennies......There has to be a Nickelback joke in here somewhere!

I'm hoping some of the charity's may be able to use the nickel in a similar way......not sure if this will work for them or not. That paying the same price for less product always miffed me too, recently I bought 50 envelopes for 2.49 up .50 well no problem it had been about three months since I last bought everything goes up right..........get home here I had bought an extra package exact same packaging only with 80 evelopes for 1.99
Pretty good increase in profit hey.... 30 less envelopes and .50 price increase. I know its a small thing but if you figure out the % increase, whow wish I could do this in my business!!

I've noticed this a lot over the years where items get slightly smaller and the price is slightly higher making one think of only small increases. Reality is that the increase is much higher.

While their at it they should rid us of the nickel and dime. I hate change. I would be just fine with rounding to the nearest quarter or even dollar.

Think about when the penny came out and how much it was worth. Probably comparable to what the loonie is now anyway.

Just my 0 cents. :D
