I just discovered they did not build a Z06 in 2014! I was baffled as to why the original owner spent 30k in mods on a 14 Z51.I thought, why not just buy the Z06? Now i know why. Guess he was a little impatient.
Yup.. C7 Z06 came out in 15. There was ZR1 type histeria and pricing as well.
I waited till 16 and bought a 5000km Z06 for way too much, but much less than they were going for a year earlier.
Those were fun days Man.
Not sure why but I never knew this. Good bit of trivia for down the road.
I have a friend with a 2014 Z06, only one ever built. Stored in his garage as investment, never driven. Well BS for sure but you could have fun with that.

I often wonder when I hear the words 'put away for an investment' how many of these actually turn out to be a good investment. I have a little experience with this in motorcycles. I had a few over the years that I bought cheap in the day and sold for a lot later. Even though the gains seemed impressive simple calculations showed that in most cases I could have made more money investing wisely. I did have the pleasure of using these bikes for years but if they had just sat there to be looked at they would have been poor investments. I also wonder about certain cars that are sold as investment cars because they are high performance for their time. Unless the car is spectacular like a 67 Vette, or Steve McQeen has sat in it, I would rather get the up to date version with way more performance in a way more civilized package. I guess we are all different and if having an investment in the garage to look at gives you pleasure then I am all for it.
I have seen many put away the wrong car and sit on it for 20 or 30 years only to find out it did not appreciate. One example was a 78 anniversary edition Corvette that sold at BJ a few years ago, guy kept it as new, no miles and got the original retail sticker price minus auctions fees, storage, maintenance back. 30 years of taking up space for nothing! There are however collectors that have seen a 20% return on their cars and got to enjoy being the caretaker of some amazing pieces! I still love the old muscles cars, always will, have bought and sold roughly 100 of them in the past 10 years but if I'm driving anywhere this weekend it will be in a C7, how can you compete with hp, comfort and even economy?
