So the phone rings this afternoon.

I have an appointment with a dermatologist on Sept 7th. I asked if it was good bad or otherwise and she said that she was just the clerk that calls to tell people of their appointment.

I wonder why if the tumor is gone, the 12 sq inches of skin the removed was fine, that I'm seeing a derm guy. My concern and I think there concern too is with the lymph nodes to which the cancer could have spread so why a derm guy when we need a under the skin sort of specialist..........so I'd have thought anyway.

I'll be seeing the surgeon before that and perhaps he can give me more information.

Makes me glad I did buy the convertible and went looking at houses on Monday and seeing another one tonight.

I wish I more to share - believe me I wish I did - but that is all I can update you with.................

Cheers,

Garry

I would but the surgeon is on vacation. I expect I'll hear from him when he gets back as I do have an unscheduled appointment with him "4 to 6 weeks" after the surgery was done, so say 1 1/2 to 3 weeks from now??

I just hope it isn't a carbon copy of the surgeons call. But then again this is the team that review cases to come to decision on how to proceed. Maybe they want a face to face to discuss options?? Just 5 weeks is a long time to wait. But something that I have gotten good at!

I am excited about the house tonight, something I can't say about other houses. I saw this house many months ago and always liked it and when the sign came up I was excited and asked my gf to do a drive by and she said there was no garage............turns out she was wrong and there is a single attached..........good enough for me!

So 75 minutes and I'll be taking a walk-though!

Cheers,

Garry

...Garry , I understand your question, but my opinion is be thankfull that there is concern from the medical system you have there. I have alot of family issues that I'm dealing with here right now. And just last week I took my dad to a dermatologist ( not easy to get to go see ) cause he has a facial thing. Well the doc says it is a skin cancer that older farmers get ( exposed to sun over the years ) , BUT the doc made him take off his shirt and inspect his back etc cause they want to see what else can be stemmed from what they see on his face . So I think they just want to see what possible issues you may have and want to make sure while you are in the " body shop " !!! that they do a total scan and give you the best readout possible. Hope all goes well. ........oh, never is the garage big enough or enough of them !!!!!!!

Be assured that I found the speed that I was treated at for the 2006 cancer very quick also this time too (CT scan and surgery) so that not having an appointment with the next Dr. for 5 weeks almost encouraging. And perhaps it is just for a check up but if they could have given me some clue as to what it was for it would certainly have been beneficial to my state of mind.

But a good go over and a thumbs up I would be all there for too and so if that is what I get then bring it on!

Looked at the house, some great points but some I also didn't care for (although more sq ft, it felt more cramped oddly). So going to a previous house that will do just fine, attached and detached garages so more car room. Don't care for the narrower, more crowded streets (cars lined on both sides of the roads basically only leaving a single lane to drive along) but the house interior is superior - kitchen and basement especially. So some mulling over and then to make the offer and go from there.

Good luck with the house! Woo!

As for the derm appointment. Maybe they just want to see you exfoliate more or wonder what your secret is for wonderful skin? Maybe the derm guy is a Corvette guy and just made up an excuse to meet up with you. :D

Good morning Riley,

Could be making an offer today. Expect it to be rejected as people seem to be slow to accept the disaster that the Alberta economy is at the moment.

I would have hoped they could have provided just a bit more information on the "what for" of the appointment. It would relieve my concern if I knew it was not too serious. If they just needed hints for keeping ones' skin soft and supple they just need to ask................I'll share my secrets!

Went shopping, needed to get a replacement circuit breaker for the house. Pulled into CT with the Mustang, along side me pulls a grey C7 Stingray. Thing it belongs to a guy who lives down the street with a yellow C3 as well as they are parked one in front of the other. The closest I've been to one. Almost made me wish I'd taken the Z06, it would have been cool to have parked one beside the other!

We were hammered by 43 mm of rain a few days ago. It was hard enough that it even pushed down my field peas, some of the wheat has more lodging now too.

Cheers,

Garry

Hey Garry!

That is quite a bit of rain. We had rain warnings for a large part of central and southern Sask but the high amount of rain never made it here. What a year it has been for the weather!

Fingers are crossed on the offer! And it would have been cool get a pic of the 2 vettes together, but either way, I'm sure your drive was a win-win.

Circuit breaker installed and electrons flowing.............

It must have been really isolated as the airport only had 9 or 10 mm that day.

I'll try to remember to bring my camera when we do our next Pokemon hunt in PR, the past two times the C7 and C3 have been parked on the road together.

Alignment finally done on my sedan, I'll even now have 4 matching tires!

The real estate agent said they will reject the offer. I think I'll send them a Happy Anniversary card when the listing reaches 365 days - 323 now. And maybe every month after that.

Just got the call, offer rejected. As we're 80K apart and they said they would not go lower that is about as far as it will go.

Totally happy with it. It is a want and not a need. It will be nice when I do finally have another house there but until then I am happy to live here and I'm sure I can manage driving my son too and from school for another year yet.

Rear mower tire off, going to get it done when I get the sedan..............

Maybe try changing the clutch quadrant tonight?????

Cheers,

Garry

Actually it has been listed for 331 days. To start with they even had the gall to list the house for ABOVE the municipal assessment. I mean this is not Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto or Hamilton people! No one should be expecting the assessed value. For example, the other comparables that the RE showed us the asking prices were always below assessment value and they sold for less than that too of course. When you have houses that are selling after 10 or 20 days on the market here and you're still waiting after 331 days maybe it is time to reexamine things??

And of course it was just announced that Alberta's unemployment rate is at a 22 year high! What does that say about our economy?? But they're moving into their new acreage in two months, I'm not sure if they'll be excited about renting and maybe then they'll be ready to deal.

And maybe someone will give them their price too - congrats if that happens! It just won't be this guy.

Met the grey C7 when I was going to get my sedan just now. I have to say new rear wheel bearings were worth the fun of installing and now with two new ball joints (much less fun installing than the wheel bearings I might add) and new tires and an alignment it feels like a new car. No darting and quiet enough it sounds like a Tesla!!

My gf saw the real estate agent to get my deposit cheque back. He said that when he told them the offer the woman just exploded in fury. The husband actually said that that is what he would have offered so I'm not sure why they didn't counter offer better. We're 80k apart and while I might move a few more k they told the agent that they wouldn't go any lower from this counter offer. They're moving in two months to an acreage they just built and considering that this must be their first offer in 332 days of the listing (if they'd ever had anything higher and already refused it the agent would have told us not to waste our time with my offer) and that Alberta's unemployment rate is the highest its been in 22 years that they really need a reality check.

Anyway, I changed the clutch quadrant in the convertible and guess what - it actually f'ing worked! The car now goes into gear at a standstill with the engine running!! I was just stunned when it happened. But it must have been at the limits of the adjustment with the stock plastic pieces and with the firewall adjuster you have a lot more adjustment ability. I couldn't believe it at first and it even went into reverse too! I have to double check the clutch that it engages when the pedal is 3' up but wow, $120 in parts and I'm fully mobile!

Am I going to rack up the km's on this puppy!!

After my Vararam project a couple of years back I was not filled with confidence....................

And I also have to give thanks to the people that posted videos on YouTube on how to undertake this project. I watched them a few times and it was almost like clockwork.

Yippie!

Cheers,

Garry

Nice work on the clutch! I bet it's way more fun to drive.

As for the woman exploding and the husband making the statement that that is what he would have offered:
A) We know who set the price on the house. :D
B) We know that they know it was a reasonable offer. Maybe someone should give the lady a news paper so she can see what is going on.
C) When they come back, you don't have to move much, if at all, to get the house.....if you're still interested.

Good afternoon Riley,

Well, spoke too soon. Clutch is acting up again! I screwed the firewall adjuster all the way back and have been screwing it out 1/2 turn at a time and then trying it but it got tiring getting into and out of the car that often so I gave up and am taking a rest. I'd hoped to take the car with mom and my cousin Karine (up visiting from Quebec City) but maybe a no-go. I mean I can still put it in gear, start it and I'm good to go but I hate riding the clutch if I get bad traffic lights.

As for the house, like I told my gf this is a case of wants and needs. He wants $ but I don't need his house and in this market I'm stubborn enough to be thinking that the ball is in my court. More sellers than buyers just now. And I fully expect that things will get worse before they get any better. And while I wouldn't be stunned to have him contact me in another month or two after some sense had been knocked into his wife's head, I'm going to pass the time by watching the listings and seeing whatever else might be coming on the market.

Now back to my clutch!

So disappointing after being awash in hope yesterday!!

Cheers,

Garry

Too funny about the clutch.....well not haha funny. I only say it's funny because of how many "fixes" I've done to the rear end of my truck to get it working. First "mistake' was changing the carrier (is this the right name?). The thing that holds the ring gear, so I could have a posi (G80) in the back. It worked great, but not knowing the preload shims were too tight, it ate the bearings. In the meantime, I replaced the pinion seal as it was leaking. I didn't mark the pinion nut and was given wrong information to use an impact on the nut. Long story short, I took the rear end apart (Still ignorant of crushing the crap out of the crush sleeve) and replaced the bearings inside the diff while reducing the preload. I figured it was fixed as the truck worked great!.........for a month before the diff started growling again. I lifted it in the air and it took all I could muster to turn the driveshaft! I took the gears out and still couldn't turn the driveshaft so I knew the preload on the pinion was killing it. So, screwing up the rear end that badly, I pulled a whole new rear out of a 1999 Blazer so I could have disc brakes on the back. Pulled the cover and new gear fluid came out and it looked in mint shape! Woo! Installed it in my truck, replaced the pads and rotors and it drove well but I didn't roll quite as nicely as I thought it should. Anyway, took it home and drove to work the next day. Because it was bugging me that it didn't feel quite right, I felt all the hubs and the drives side rear was hot, so I knew the brake was dragging. I was told it was the proportioning valve. We bypassed that but it didn't help. I replaced the caliper and now it works like a charm!
The only driveline issue I still have to settle is a vibration on take off from 10 to 20 km/hr but I believe this is a pinion angle issue and will deal with that over time.
So, long story short, I understand your repairs, then believing it's fixed, only to find it's not....... :D

Good afternoon Riley,

Wow! After that I'm feeling a whole lot better. But your situation or at least your efforts to take corrective action are a lot more complicated than mine, at least so far.

I had hoped that as you usually want to start with the simplest solution to the problem that this would resolve it. I can remember after I installed the parts on Saturday and took the car of the jackstands etc, tried putting it in gear and it went - engine off but I mean I had the expectation I would bugger something up while doing this. Then starting it up and putting it into gear and feeling just so stunned and shocked that it went into gear! Then trying it again and thinking I might have actually pulled it off!

And it lasted for the 1st day and even the drive into GP Sunday night. Then it failed once in GP but was OK when I tried it again.

So Monday when it got a bit worse, I went to town to get spare keys made (didn't realize a 99 Mustang would have chipped keys either!) and then told myself when I got back home I was going to start from scratch with the firewall adjuster and haven't been able to find the spot where it was working yet sort of disappointed me.

But as misery likes company, I did smile when I read your story, others do understand!

Now that the fog is burning off I might try again too. I bought my mother a Nissan Frontier Don't get excited, 2006 withe 230 K km's, just so that she has her own transportation as dad is 6 months into repairing his truck so they only have one vehicle and when they have conflicts mom has to cancel doing what she had planned................so I have to change the oil and check the tire pressure etc. then take it over to her.

Cheers,

Garry

Good morning Riley,

Oh I'm sure mom deserves it. Not for the beatings with the wooden spoon I received when I was growing up but probably more so for the fact that she has stayed with my dad all these years!!!!!

As for colour, well I'd be lying if I didn't admit that the direction I was steering her in when they had to replace Mom's red Frontier was not a yellow Xterra. I thought she'd be better off with a fully enclosed back actually, the fact it was yellow was simply a bonus!!. But she wanted a Frontier again and so this one was local, price was right and it ended up being white. We may even take it on our next upcoming road trip since I still don't have the Mustang clutch issue resolved. But honestly I'm more worried to take the Frontier 800 km away from home than I'd be with the Mustang............maybe just the two or three weeks difference in ownership experience. I mean I drove the Frontier yesterday and while the clutch feels different than what I would normally expect it might just be the "personality" of this truck and everything is fine.

And not as if we haven't broke down more than enough with the red Frontier on road trips that we're almost experts and have AMA on speed dial...............

Cheers,

Garry

So, went to see the surgeon yesterday in GP. Weather was showery so had to leave the Z06 and Mustang at home, took the Sentra that was missing two wheel nuts, got new ones at Nissan and felt much relieved.

Ended up waiting for 30 minutes for the Dr. I was his 1 pm but as he ran late in the morning and didn't have lunch I got delayed. Then once they showed me in there was another 15 minute delay before the Dr. came in.

Not much news,. Looked at the scar, everything is fine. He wasn't aware of the Sept 7th meeting with the dermatologist in Edmonton. These people don't talk it appears. I had hoped to gain some insight into what they were going to do then but the Dr. couldn't tell me. We talked about the issue of my lymph nodes and how the cancer could have spread there but as the cobalt contrast didn't move that he didn't want to just go yanking them out willy-nilly. I have to agree with him here. The problem is, oddly, that it could be lymph nodes on the side of my chest, the side of my neck or my shoulder perhaps that are the ones that might be in trouble. One bit of good news was that they might be able to find the area by giving me a PET scan. This will apparently be able to find areas of higher cellular metabolic activity ie. cancer cells.

So I suggested that he schedule me for one but he wants to wait until the Sept 7th appointment to see what they might contribute.

Took mom's truck for a road trip to Calgary, we met my gf in Edmonton on the way back as she was down for a course for work. Had a blast. Even spun the tires by the legislature building for fun. Then mom and dad took it to GP, I took the truck to Fairview to get some farm part and wouldn't you know it, mom was coming back from Peace River yesterday and the clutch failed! Oh well, better at 20 km from home than 800 km from home!!

Otherwise prepping swathers and combines and rather having a nice time doing it. Awesome weather and perhaps try some field peas this week..........

Going now to get some hose extensions for my new grease guns. I think it is time to charge the battery on the Z06 too. Kill two birds with one LS7!

Cheers,

Garry

PS.

Hoses picked up, should allow me to extend my last 5 grease guns. A situation in which yes, length does count!

I sure need to get more seat time in. I know it has been a few days and maybe I'm just tired but stalled the car three times at stop signs.............but at least the battery should be charged now.

Going to get some tool boxes now. Had hoped to take the convertible but I invited my gf who is on her way home from work and who needs fuel so we'll be taking her car instead. Poop. Such super weather today too!!!!

Good morning,

An important day for me has arrived. No, it's not Manny cam'ing me either!

Leaving in 30 minutes. Meeting with two doctors instead of just one at 2 pm. Not sure if that is good or bad.

I just hope I get some clarity of my situation as the past three months have been a bit trying for me.

With any luck I can return and start to plan for my first burnout!!!!

Started swathing yesterday, canola a bit green but after two days of frost probably not much point in waiting any longer.

Cheers,

Garry
